“Animals Everywhere!!”
Reviewed June 16, 2006

We went to Turtle Beach on a shore excursion while we were on a cruise ship down in the Caribbean Islands. We saw a lot of animals (goats, cows & monkeys) roaming freely on our drive to the beach. Once we arrived there were animals everywhere.
We were hungary so our first stop was the open air restaurant, which was wonderful and allowed views of Nevis Island while we were eating. The service was a little slow, but the food was good, and the atmosphere was great.
Next we went swimming, and the water was wonderful, but there were a few rocks under water that we had to watch out for. We found that there weren't any rocks closer to the dock. They offer free lounge chairs that we took advantage of, and there are girls who offer massages for reasonable prices, and others who braid hair.
We really enjoyed all of the animals, and Wilbur (the pig) made the rounds on the beach looking for food or drink. He was actually kinda friendly and cute, and didn't bother us at all.
We loved Turtle Beach, and were totally entertained by the managerie of animals (monkies, chickens, goats & more) that we saw there. It is unique and we would definatley visit there again. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

“Margaritaville St. Kitts Style”
Reviewed April 4, 2006

This was our first dinning experience on the Island. I would definately agree with someone's comment that this place is a Magaritaville type establishment. We took the $20 taxi ride down from the Marriott. The drive was nice enough to stop at a couple places along the way to get some great pictures. Once you get past the salt pond, the road becomes litterally littered with wild animals such as goats, sheep, cows, and monkeies.

When we arrived at Tutle Beach around 11:30am there were people outside waiting to assist us. We were seated at a table about 10 feet from the water. There is definately great views here of Nevis and the SE of SKB.

My wife ordered a Lobster Sandwich and I got a cheeseburger. We also both had a coke. For the most part, the food was average. Nothing much to write home about. What you would expect from a Margaritville Resturant. With a bucket of 6 Caribs our bill came out to be about $50. Not too bad and what I would expect.

Service was really inconsistent here. We were the first to arrive and people were all over us to help out. As more people arrived, service dewindled, event though we could see the wait staff standing around. The interesting thing about St. KItts is that they are pretty fast to seat you and get your food to you. However, it seems like you wait FOREVER for a bill and for your credit card to be returned.

The beach gets more hype than it deserves. It was one of the smallest I saw on the island. We got sick from the desiel fumes from the tractor they were using to hall all the sea weed off the beach. However, they do have free lounge chairs. Also, on Sunday afternoons they had live music which was pretty good. Before that they had typical island music playing on the stereo. It interesting watching the crabs dig their holes on the beach while we laid out. My wife and I looked for them to popup every now and then.

Wilber the pig was sleeping with him. Also, was suprised to not see any monkeys, but the one that ran accross our taxi on the way out. Was told that there were more monkey's than people on the island, but did not see this to be true.

Overall, good day on Turtle beach. Great views. Spotty service. Different and unique atmosphere. Definatly a must see for the first time visitor to St. Kitts. However, don't think I would go back.

“Loved St Kitts, but not this beach...”
Reviewed December 22, 2005

I was expecting to be awed by Turtle Beach but I was very disappointed. The beach was rather crowded. Women come around asking you to pay for hair braids or a massage and don't leave you alone. The water was very beautiful, however, it was very rocky. We kept injuring ourselves on the huge rocks. There was also alot of underwater grass, which is a little creepy to walk through. It also made the water look dirty, because alot of grass and such would float on the water's surface. There was a little bit of garbage floating around also. No doubt, from tourists, as the entire island of st kitts was absolutely immaculate. The monkeys were cute. This place is good for people that want a crowd. It had a restaurant, bar, bathroom, and changing facility.
We ended up going to Banana Bay and fell in love with the beach there.
