“Great View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2014

This beach is amazingly scenic. We were on a cruise and just went for the afternoon. Our driver said it wouldn't be packed and he was right. The beach was not over crowded and in fact it felt like it was ours alone. We had a nice beach bed for the afternoon. Relaxed, drank and swam in the amazing water. Great time and would love to visit that beach again. One of my faves

“Tranquil”

A lovely natural beach with great views of Nevis. Lots of seaweed but it adds to the character of the beach. Picked up some perfect sea fans just lying on the sand.

“Beautiful beach and view of Nevis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2014

This is not not cockleshell beach. That is next door to this and an easy walk over. This is not a beach that has easy and great swimming right on shore. It has great marine life and was a great day to snorkel. There are no facilities, or chair or umbrella rentals. NO food and NO PEOPLE. The beach is natural and has grasses and other stuff that washed up on shore. I can tell you that there is a great view of Nevis, good marine life and some nice places to rent right on the water for a stay on this beach. If you are looking to be served drinks all day this is not the beach for you. If you want a quiet place to be alone and enjoy the water than try it out.

“Nice beach, way overcrowded”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2014

Nice little beach, great clear water and lovely views of Nevis. Loved the mix of white and black sand, looked lovely. The beach is overcrowded though. The beach chairs are super close to each other, not my idea of R&R. However, if you walk just a bit up the beach where there are no chairs, there is nobody there and it's beautiful and even better, if you just walk around the corner to Banana Bay, there is absolutely nobody there, the beach is beautiful and super clean. They are building a Hyatt there, so it won't be quiet for too much longer.

“It seems that Cockleshell Bay is being confused with Turtle Beach when reviews are posted.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

Turtle Beach is a very beautiful and quiet beach with fantastic views, and faces directly South towards Nevis. It has a lovley breeze off the Ocean with a barrier reef on the East end that creates a protected calm section in the bay. The beach is really only used by owners and guests living and staying at Turtle Beach. Cruise ship passengers very seldom visit this beach and local vendors do not go there. There are 20 homes and villa rentals there, such as the beautiful rental villa, Ocean Song Villa and cottage, and only one restaurant that only opens in the evening for special events. Cockleshell bay is one bay over and has a few restaurants and watersports. This is where the crouds of cruise ship passengers and vendors go. Very few lucky tourists venture over to Turtle Beach. The best accessible coral reef on the island for snorkelling is right off Turtle Beach. There are Turtle Grass beds and sandy pools inside are outside of the reef which are nurseries for many Juvenile forms of marine life including lobsters. Many Green turtles, Hawksbill turtles and Eagle Rays live on the reef and in the narrow shallow channel between Turtle Beach, Booby Island and Nevis. The East end of Turtle Beach is excellent for beach combing.
