“Stunning Views”

Great views of the coastline from high above at the fortress. There is a $10.00 pp entry fee which is collected before you can enter the area. There is a video in an orientation room with adjacent gift shop area and a separate building with restrooms. As mentioned, it is a steep uphill walk from the parking area to the fortress but worth it for the view and a tour of the historic fort. We also spotted monkeys on the drive down.

“Amazing place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014 via mobile

This restored historic fortress is amazing. The setting is a little vertigo inducing with is elevation and high walls. Driving through the jungle and up narrow roads with gates barely wide enough to fit the cars was impressive. The history is well presented. Worth a visit.

“stunning architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

After a beautiful morning of snorkeling, my daughters and I took a taxi to this site which made St. Kitts the highlight of our entire cruise. My daughter is a photographer and took dozens of stunning photographs of the architecture and the views. A lot of walking and a steep climb, but worth it. We saw the monkeys in the forest on the drive up! Deeply appreciative of all the hard work to restore this amazing piece of history.

“Great piece of history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

Beautiful setting, and very educational. Tells you a lot about the history of the Caribbean, and how St Kitts played a central role in trade. Unfortunately that was mostly based on the slave trade at the time - but it's worth learning about and understanding about how it all worked.

“a worthwhile stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2014

impressive site and worth the trip. Steep climb to the top section of the fort and views were great once you get there. interesting walking around to the different areas of the fort. Small museum to learn more about the fort.
Allow about an hour to tour and enjoy the views.
