We booked a small group from all over the US to LCBR because we know exactly what we are going to get, no surprises. Excellent food, great bar, excellent dive boats and staff, and the dives are superb. This October trip was perfect. The weather was about 85 degrees, water the same, calm seas, visibility 100' or so. We will be bringing another group back to this resort in 2014 and can't wait. We will be happy to answer any questions about the resort. Only one issue we experienced was with Cayman Express who had taken some inter-island planes out of service for annual maintenance and that reduced some flight options to and from Grand Cayman, but they accommodated us all no problem. Our heart-felt thanks to the entire staff of the resort and dive shop. And Cayman Airways for no bag fees!

Room Tip: Ask for ocean front end unit, great rooms that step out on to the beach.

I just returned from LCBR. The boats are extremely well maintained and very clean. The dive operation is wonderful. A few of the newer staff are still green, but all in all the op is safety minded, informative and friendly. The room we had was clean and well maintained.
Be aware that there is a new manager there, Kim. One of her first actions was to not renew the contract of Chef Anthony. I have no idea why it was not renewed and no one would tell me. He was one of the primary reasons I have been there every year for the last five. Of course, the wall was the other.
While the food was still great (as the staff was still the same team and only a few days w/o Chef), I hope that it can stay top notch without him. Time will tell whether this was a mgmt blunder or not.

Room Tip: If it's within your budget, book an ocean front room.

Little Cayman Beach Resort (LCBR) is one of my favorite places in the world.

Little Cayman is out of the way, caters to scuba divers, has very few people, food is OUTSTANDING, staff is fabulous. The hotel is a 2 story building, in the shape of an H, air conditioned and rooms have Wi-Fi & are a good size. The pool is beautiful and there is a beach to lounge on.

We have been to LCBR in the summer & it is not buggy or unbearably hot & humid (Aug 2013) and in the spring (March 2012) & it is heaven on earth.

The diving is unbelievable. Bloody Bay Wall is considered the the #1 dive site in the Western Hemisphere. Each dive site is absolutely spectacular. The large Nassau Groupers come up to divers to be petted. They are like dogs, and actually look like they are smiling once petted!

If you need to get away from a very busy life, whether or not you are a diver and want to "veg" out, LCBR is for you. If clubs, restaurants, casinos are what you are looking for, this is not the island for you.

We are return visitors & we love it so much we are planning our 2014 diving trip.

Don't tell too many people about LCBR....we wouldn't want it to get crowded or well known.

We just returned from LCBR after a wonderful week of diving with twelve diving friends. We first went to LCBR in 1994 or 1995 just after Dan Tibbets and his dad opened the resort and we were there in 1996 and were treated by Dan to a boat trip to Cayman Brac to watch the Russian destroyer sinking near Cayman Brac. We go back every couple of years and its always a treat.

The Resort. Its very professionally managed with a friendly and efficient staff. The rooms are freshly done, new furniture, good beds, and there are several different room types. WIFI is available all over the resort and was very dependable for me for normal email/web surfing tasks. It’s a little slow for downloading large files. There is a tennis court and a ping pong table. A nice swimming pool and hot tub sits near the bar and shaded hammocks on the beach. Watersports include paddleboards, kayaks and snorkeling. You can rent bikes for $5.00 per day to explore the island. They have a nice spa with different services available, massages, facials, etc. I didn’t use them but a couple of our group did and they were well pleased. Several people on TA commented on the beach being dirty. I have never experienced that.

The Food. Its excellent food. They always several different proteins and a nice salad selection with several desserts at each meal. Special dietary needs of a couple of our members were met without problem. If you are disappointed in the food as it was presented to us last week you are too picky.

The Bar. It belongs to the cigar smokers. You must be willing to endure clouds of noxious smoke to sit in or near the bar area. In the past, the bar drink menu was much more diverse with several tropical and well made drinks. Now its mainly a list of standard bar drinks (Long Island, Bloody Mary, etc.), some well made, some not. I ordered a Mojito, which should be made with bruised, not pulverized, mint leaves. Mine had pulverized mint leaves leaving me the chore of picking tiny pieces of mint out of my mouth.

Karaoke night still is and probably always will be a problem. We were assured that it would end at 10:00. It went to 10:30. I suspect if the tips are flowing and the crowd still spending it will from time to time last until midnight. This is an Island event as staff and locals gather for the evening so you may as well plan to sit up late that night.

Reef Divers. Yes, D****e still works there although she was not in residence for our week. And like several others who posted on TA, I too wonder why she is still there. We had to deal with her several years ago, it was like being at boot camp. Maybe she has mellowed.

Our crew for the week was Warren, a very personable and engaging Irish fellow and Hannah S. Both of them were excellent dive professionals and were some of the best at engaging the group as I have seen in my 30 years of diving. Its easy to get burned out trying to be “up” for a new group every week, week after week but they really seemed to enjoy their work and we really enjoyed being with them.

Reef Divers caters to fully certified and experienced scuba divers. Its unreasonable to expect the dive operation to provide a “nanny” for you during your dives. If you are not comfortable diving a normal profile with your buddy without the need for personal attention in the water then this may not be the best place for you. They can't control the weather and the offer of a voucher for future trips when weather related issues prevent diving is quite generous even if it is only good for a year. After all, its not Disney. They can’t just restart the ride.

We’ll go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the bar if you are a light sleeper.

We went to Little Cayman as our daughter was working as boat crew for Reef Divers, based at Little Cayman Beach Resort.
Having previously looked at daughter's photo's and getting a 360 degree view via a Skype call to her, I knew what to expect... calm blue water, white beach, however I didn't really appreciate what a small island is like to live on, I do now. Everyone, from the bloke on his pushbike to the captain of the little plane that brought us to the Island is SO friendly. EVERYONE you meet greets you as an old friend and will spend a few minutes chatting. There are approx. 150 residents (including just 5 kids), and I think we met most of them during our stay.

Anyway, back to business. The Beach Resort is a beautiful set of buildings. The guest rooms are only 2 storeys high (ground floor and 1 above). Our room was ground floor, close to the bar and the very frequently used ice making machine - we got through at least 2 buckets of ice each day.

Food was buffet style, catering mostly for the American visitors: waffles and muffins as well as assorted small boxes of cereals, toast, juices, and porridge for breakfast, and lots of choices at lunchtime and in the evening, with simply LOADS of sweet and creamy cakes, which everyone seemed to enjoy enough to go back for more!

The resort is set up especially for divers. Reef Divers have 4 boats that take divers out first thing in the morning, bring them back for lunch, then out diving again in the afternoon, arriving back to the resort around 5pm.

As my husband and myself do not scuba dive, we virtually had the resort to ourselves when the boats went out, and in the evening most diving guests headed back to their rooms after eating, so the bar was almost empty.
We did manage to get out a couple of times to snorkel while the other guests were diving, and we managed to see barracuda, turtles, groupers, tarpon to name a few. Visibility is amazing...at least 80-100 meters! and sea temp was around 28C.

The whole experience left us relaxed and so laid back we were almost horizontal, the way you should feel after a holiday in paradise.....
The only slight negative (in general, not particularly the Beach Resort) in the whole holiday is the prices of all consumer goods. Everything seem quite expensive compared to the UK, but this is obviously due being such a small island, where everything has to be brought in from other islands.

Would I go back? Most certainly if I ever did my scuba diving course, but as a 'landlubber' not so sure.... I've tasted paradise and that has whetted my appetite to find other paradises in this world of ours!

Room Tip: They're all good rooms, however, ground floor rooms make it easier to stagger back to after drin...

Just got back from another fantastic dive vacation at LCBR. This was the Tres Amigos Dive Club's 3rd year in a row.
The resort itself is very clean and comfortable. Rooms are very large for a hotel.
The diving is great. Water is clear. Lots of sealife to see. We saw turtles on every dive and sharks on 3.
Sharon was our boat captain/dive master and she is absolutely fantastic. I had injured my back recently and Sharon and her crew broke their backs to make sure I would be OK getting on/off the dive boat.
The food is fantastic. For those that have never been there Anthony is a master chef and his kitchen staff turn out 3 fantastic meals a day.
No trip is complete without visiting Teresa and Grace at the bar. Hannah is new this year and is lots of fun.
Teresa is the best bartender in the Caribbean. She's friendly, funny and very efficient. She makes you want to have that post-dive beer. We have even made her an honorary member of TADC.
Overall the staff is wonderful.
Kudos to the GM, Kimberly, for running a great operation.

Wonderful dive resort with clean rooms, professional dive operation, great food, and relaxing atmosphere.

A definite choice for divers of all levels. There is not much for non-divers to do but the peace and quiet is truly vacation worthy. Not diving? Have a lounge in the hammock, read a book, swim, run on the beach, shop in the boutique, tour the island, or hang out at the bar.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms have great beach front space and patios.
