Always make a trip to the point when on island, can easily be biked to (round trip about 14 miles) take a cooler and allow a few hours to visit the beautiful pink sand beach where it is not unusual to be the only ones

Snorkeling off the Point of Sand revealed nurse shark, spotted eagle ray, yellow sting ray, procupine fish (2 feet long!) beautiful angel fish (grey and queen, triggerifsh, barracuda, lobster, and a bounty of beautiful reef fish. Watch out for the current at the eastern inlet, it can get quite strong!

We arrived by car and parked where the rental place told us. It is better to park as you enter from the main road. Walk straight out to the dock...don't turn left and go toward the cabana..there are currents there. The safest place is to the right of the docks. There are decent coral and fish within 50 feet of shore. It is probably better at high tide as long as the chop is down. We swam at low tide and some of the coral was within 1.5 ft of the surface so it was a little hard swimming over it. All in all it was quite fun.

I am not a diver..... I spent a couple weeks on the island to snorkel and bonefish.

Point of sand was the only real world-class find.

Go about a quarter or half way out the dock there, and enter. Just remain calm, let the water take you and merely observe. You will wash up on the beach in about 200 yards. This area is an amazing shallow water heaven.

I really felt that everything was too expensive and shoddy on the island itself save this area. If I came into fun money I would treat my grandsons to just this one snorkel and fly out the next day.
