Seven Mile beach overall is crowded and full of plastic cups. The ocean floor is littered with cups as well until you are well away from the shore. The many hotels need to place MANY more garbage cans for the lazy people that leave their trash on the lovely sand.

If you like beaches that at clean, friendly, accessible, fun and close to town then Governor's Beach is the place for you. The sand is pristine and the water is crystal clear and warm. Great way to spend time in Georgetown.

Nice beach to swim and snorkel. Loved the clear water and so many fish. Not as crowded as seven mile beach.

I have been to French Polynesia and one of the things I loved is how the water glows. The water here is very similar. When the light hits it, it looks like a neon green. Coral is prevalent but not to the point where it hinders you. It enhances your experience. The beach is beautiful - gorgeous white sand. Snorkel every day that you are there.

If you are looking for loud music, a beachside bar, changing rooms, wave runners, a party scene . . . then go somewhere else and leave Governor's Beach for those of us who enjoy peace and quiet. This beach right in front of the Governor's official residence, and just north of the Westin (which DOES have all that stuff) is one of the prettiest, calmest beaches on Grand Cayman. The sand is unbelievably soft and white, exactly the sort of sand you came to the Caribbean to find. The water is tranquil, and shallow, and there are signs everyhwere that say "No Loud Music." Thank god! Bring a packed lunch and some water, and get ready for some real peace and quiet.

And bring your snorkel gear too. Surprisingly, there is decent snorkeling to be had off the shore, not more than 50 yards or so out. The coral is not in good shape, and is nothing in comparison to other more famous snorkel & dive locations, but the amount of wildlife is surprisingly rich, particularly in the late afternoon and early evening. Over the years, people have fed the fish a lot here (Don't follow their example!), so the sargeant majors and the blue parrots actually swarm around you as you snorkel. We also so blowfish, plenty of angel fish, and even a lobster tucked away in his hidey hole. The perfect place to snorkel if you also want a soft sand beach to hang out on.
