“Great snorkling right off the beach”
Review of Governor's Beach

Governor's Beach
Reviewed February 27, 2014

Governor's beach lies directly in front of the Governor's home on the north end of Seven Mile Beach. Swim out about 200 yards or so to see some of the best off the beach snorkeling there is. Water is calm and clear.

This public beach is right next door to the Westin. It's very easy to grab your gear and swim out to the main reef area - the Red Sail folk at the Westin can point you in the right direction or simply look for all of the snorkels in the water. There's a bit more reef to the south, somewhat close to the boat entry/exit for Red Sail. Be careful, but it's worth swimming over to. Both reefs have plenty of wrasses, damselfish, tangs, parrotfish, and sea urchins to marvel over.

We tried several public beaches on the island, and this was our favorite. It wasn't super crowded, and there was always enough parking. Definitely recommend, especially if you don't want crowds of people around. The downside of a quieter beach like this is that there weren't umbrellas or chairs available to rent like the other, more popular beaches.

We go here often! not too crowded, great snorkeling and has shade trees if the sun gets too much!! saw 2 spotted eagle rays right near the shoreline the last time we were here!

It was remote and private, not the busy beach like in Seven Mile area. However, the snorkeling wasn't the best... way too shallow and too much grass (which is why I knocked a pt down). If going there to lay out or to have a picnic, it's a good choice as there was a single table available and is a nice beautiful scenic beach.
