“Not worth the price”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

Ritz is by far the best property in the island in terms of luxury and comfort, however it is very expensive and you don't get your money's worth. If you are very rich and practically have an unlimited budget, then Ritz is the place for you. The food is great, rooms are very nice, staff is super polite. However, since I am not related to Donald Trump, I measure experiences in terms of quality/price ratio. Ritz may be top quality but it probably has one the worst ratios. Why? Here are few reasons: - the shower in the room wasn’t working properly and they couldn’t fix it (the temperature was going up and down which made taking a shower very uncomfortable) - the jacuzzi at the SPA was broken for 2 consecutive days - there were trash bags waiting on the hall ways to be picked up producing bad smell Again, all of these would be minor problems not even worth mentioning if you are staying in another property, but if you are paying close to $800 per night, you expect everything to be perfect. You also expect at least the breakfast to be included. Unfortunately, Ritz charges $40 per person for breakfast buffet (which is also not that impressive by the way). Bottom line: If you are very price insensitive and would like to experience luxury #and of course say “I stayed at the Ritz” to your friends), then I highly recommend it. Otherwise, stay at one of the nearby properties for one third of the price.

This was our second visit to the island and first time at Ritz. My husband and I just returned from a week long stay at the Ritz. The weather was beautiful all week and our week stay at the Ritz was just perfect, the service crew take their individual jobs very seriously. We could want for nothing, they take care of you daily. The beach crew take care of you as you look for your beach chairs, the restaurants offer superb service and excellent food, and housekeeping crew help you both day and night(turn down service). Upon arrival we were greeted by Julia, who walked us to our room and pointed out things along the way.The pool bar guys "Henry, Matt and Gaylord do a really great job too" This place is the best and the beautiful location on Seven Mile Beach makes it even better.

Room Tip: We had a garden room but no ocean rooms were available but either way the ocean was easily accessib...

Really enjoyed my stay here. Just returned from a week long vacation and already miss the beautiful weather and soft beach sand. The Ritz Carlton really has customer service down to an art form. Anytime we needed anything, all you had to do was ask. In fact, I was at poolside and inquired to an employee about whether the resort gift shop sold any band-aids. The employee promptly returned with a bag full of band-aids, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors and other toiletries from the spa for no charge.

We stayed in a resort side room (opposite side of resort from the beach) and we really enjoyed it. This side has a very nice pool that is geared more towards adults and is quieter. Never a problem finding a pool lounger and all you have to do is ask a pool attendant for a sun umbrella and they set it up or you. Fresh water provided poolside everyday with a new flavor. Abundant towels provided and there's a great poolside restaurant Periwinkel that serves great food and delicious tropical drinks.

As others have stated, you have to plan ahead for the expense of staying here because everything is expensive...but if you know that up front, you can plan for it.

We really enjoyed Seven steakhouse at the resort. We had an unbelievable dinner and Sunday brunch with unlimited champagne. Some of the best food I have had in my life...and I've eaten in great restaurants all over the Caribbean and Hawaii. The prices are high but the food quality and freshness is amazing and our waiter Jeremy did a great job of knowing all the dishes and making dinner/wine recommendations.

We didn't eat at Eric Ripert's Blue Restaurant at the resort but it was highly recommended. We also didn't eat at the in- house sushi restaurant because I don't eat it but it was popular as well.

Ate off property at Sunshine Grill, Hemingways, Calypso Grill - all were excellent. Sunshine Grill has very affordable and delicious food / drinks at reasonable prices and its walking distance from RC...but they don't take reservations so be prepared to wait or go early. Ate at Bar Jacks next to the beachside pool several times also. Great food, drink and service right alongside Seven Mile Beach. They make one of the best Piña Coladas you will ever drink in your life. The Painkillers are great too.

Resort is very clean and rooms were nice. Housekeeping does a great job of making sure you have everything you need. They also try very hard to complete your room turn down while you are at the pool or out eating so your room is done when you get back. In-room safe was very convenient and alleviated a lot of concerns about theft. The only thing I would recommend to the management is that they should consider investing in in-room coffee makers (although fresh coffee and tea are provided every morning in the Palm lounge) and in-room IPod docking station/alarm clocks.

All in all, great, relaxing stay. I would highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Resort side is nice if you prefer a little quieter pace than the beach side pool. The covered bridg...

We just returned from a week at the Ritz and had a great time. Property bit large for me but nice. If you like big resorts this is the place. Service at the beach very good, I recommend a hefty tip for the towel boys at the beginning of your stay and you will be well taken care of. Spa was relaxing, I had an 80 minute massage. Best time to enjoy the beach is late afternoon to watch the sunset. I am not sure if I would go back. But if I had young children this is the spot. Tons for families to do.

Room Tip: Of course I recommend beach front! Beach not crowded in afternoon and fabulous sunset.

My wife and I flew down to the Cayman Islands to visit friends that live on Cayman Brac Island. After our visit we decided to stay another week on the Grand Cayman Island before heading back to the States. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton on "seven mile beach". The hotel was exceptionally nice and quiet. We were there in October. Not alot of guests and not alot of children. I don't know if they have an "off season" or when they are full/busy?? Thus, it made for a fun and relaxing week. Our room had a nice balcony that overlooked the ocean. We had a package deal that included breakfast either buffet or off the menu. They had wonderful smoothies every morning made with a different fruit each day. We typically would have a light lunch at one of the pools or out on the beach where we spent the majority of our time - sun bathing, swimming, or taking walks on the beach. Again, not alot of people. We had planned to venture out to different restaurants each night, but we found the hotel restaurant to be quite good and ate dinner there every night. Food was great with a nice wine list. As far as sight seeing on the island - we did not feel it economical to rent a car, so we took a taxi which wasn't bad at all. Went to Georgetown, which we found to be your typical tourist trap. Alot of shops, but with basically the same stuff. This is where the cruise ships port - so there are alot of people milling around. I was able to purchase some fine cuban cigars, but when I went to purchase a bottle of champagne - they wanted to know what cruise liner ship I was on, and I said "no ship". They said I couldn't purchase any alcohol?? We couldn't tolerate much more than an hour in Georgetown but on the way back to the hotel about halfway we found a developing little village of shops which were much more upscale. At that time the village area, which I can't remember the name, was approx 50% done. It should be complete now. It was unique in that it had slips for boats to come in. Several nice restaurants were going in, etc.
Anyway, most of our time was spent at the beach and hotel. Weather was fantastic and of course the water is exceptionally clear (and the reason is because none of the three islands: Grand, Little, and Brac have any rivers to bring dirt and debris into the ocean). Looking forward to going back sometime in the future.

Room Tip: We enjoyed ocean view

Stayed her for 5 days last week. the property is excellent. Rooms and large, elegant and clean. Main pool is large with its of chairs. The beach is beautiful...fine white sand, lots of chairs, although you have to stake them out early if you want one by the water. The staff is friendly and professional as usual in a Ritz. The Silver Rain Spa is fantastic, one of the best. Several great restaurants on site including Blue which is world class. You will certainly depart the hotel with a much lighter wallet, but, hey, it's worth the splurge.
