“Great food and great service!”
Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

Second night on the island and we came upon Duke's, great food great service. First time we had a seafood pot and it was phenomenal. Sat at the bar and Jimmy took care of us. Came back six days later and sat the bar again and Jimmy remembered us, not only our drinks but our names. This time had the surf & turf which is lobster, shrimp and steak. The steak was extremely tender, the shrimp and lobster cooked perfectly.

If you want good service, good food and sitting with some locals this is the place to go.

Just a short walk from 7 mile beach towards West End we stayed at the Westin and it got here in about 10 minutes.

“Mediocre at best :(”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

I do my best to have an open mind and hate being overly critical but unfortunately Duke's in the Caymans simply did not live up to it's reviews.

We started with one of their signature appetizers, the calamari. It was described as a heaping portion, lightly battered with sautéed jalapeño and onion. It came as a tiny serving, oily, bland and not at all as described. Neither my date or myself were able to stomach it so we sent it back. We asked a few questions, believing it may have been an off night for the chef but were told that's the way it always is. Ok, onto the mains.

I went for the baby back ribs and she for the Maui ribs. The baby back although tender lacked any flavor. It's unfortunate to have to rely on extra sauce to make the dish palatable. Not at all worth $30 usd. She had the appetizer portion of the Maui ribs which were good.

All in all it was a forgetful meal, definitely not up to the standard expressed by the prices. The food was simply sub par and there was nothing notable at all about the experience.

Hey, maybe it will be better for you but we won't be returning.

“Best Coconut Shrimp”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

This restaurant is located on the 7 mile beach road across the street & just before the Public Beach. Nice Cayman outdoor setting around the Thached Roof Bar. There is also many tables inside & outside . Very extensive menue. Prices range for 8.95 to 29.95. The best food
( although ther are many more), was their Coconut Shrimp. Large 7-8 jumbo shrimp in a nice batter & deep fried. The Duke's Burger was delightfull. So big that I too half of it home.Their Stew Pots 24.00 looked interesting with 3 varities available, Prtobably one would serve 2 people. The "Happy Hour" prices, 4-7pm were the best we found on the Island. All beers (including imports) were 3.00 as well as all well drinks. Fancy ones were 5.00.
Now here is a secret::: If you buy a drink or have a meal at it's sister restautant "The Waterfront" in Caymana Bay, you will get a 10.00 off on al meals 7 days a week any time at Duke's. Enjoy.

“Nice place”
Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

Jerk chicken for me. Seafood Jambalaya for my husband. Both good although my chicken was a little overcooked - not as moist as it could have been. Service was excellent.

We had a chat with a chap as we were leaving and said we were here on our honeymoon. Turned out it was the owner so he invited us for a drink on the house. Had a lovely chat with him and his mother who was visiting. would love to go back but don't think we are going to manage it before we go home :(

“Good place”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Have been to Dukes 3 times over the past 2 months and have enjoyed it each time. I agree with other posters about the flies and the mosquitos but not much you can do about that. The food is really good and the prices are good, along with the service, always friendly. I only wish they would have kept the white beans on the menu as we all loved them, but :) they were taken off.
