“New Years Eve Delight”

I had a craving for Indian Food while on vacation, and this restaurant was an incredible and unexpected find! Our meal was delicious, well priced and delivered with service that was over-and-above. Our waiter coached our wine selection to save us a little money, guided us to some recommended dishes and was appropriately attentive all evening. We finished dinner, and received a new year's wish and hug from the owner, after dinner drink — and to our surprise — a ride back to the hotel from the bartender who didn't want us to wait for a cab on the busy holiday evening. Wonderful experience!

“Fantastic!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

I can honestly say that there are few restaurants that are so delicious, so clean, and so friendly as this place for the price you pay. It's located in a strip mall on Seven Mile closer to George Town, so it's a little hidden, but it's an easy bus ride there and back if you aren't staying on that end of Seven Mile Beach.

You can get the food as spicy or mild as you like, and they have all the same options that you would get at your local Indian restaurant. The host that greets you is so friendly, and the service was incredible, too. The meal was one of the best I had on the island of the five times we've been to Cayman, and with an entree you get a free beer! They also give you a little chick pea appetizer to munch on which is really good.

Overall, this is great, authentic Indian cuisine and they are so happy to have your service, something I think a lot of restaurants are lacking nowadays. It may not be on the beach or have a view, but trust me, if you want a great dinner without breaking the bank, go here!

“Outstanding Indian food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

Reserved a table based on other reviews. Seated on time and service was attentive and timely. We have eaten Indian food around the world and this was as flavorful and enjoyable as anywhere in the US or England. Every dish we picked was flavorful and filling. So much food we sadly had to skip dessert (next trip). Unique mint and lemon soda perfect with the meal (or the local Cayman beers!). Reminded us of the great Indian food of cold home Buffalo and nearby Toronto, made us glad we came.

“Great dining "find" on Seven Mile Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013

We recommend Southern Spice very highly. We found it on TripAdvisor when we were looking for a nice, reasonably-priced restaurant for a family dinner during busy Christmas Week in the 7-mile Beach. On TA it came very highly recommended yet exceeded the expectations and we'd like to endorse that and give it our highest praise.
Incredibly great service! The service was the best during our dinner, and then went over and above because the restaurant drove us back to the door of our condo in the company car when we asked them to order a cab for us on a rainy night.
Prices were so reasonable. Dinner for 5, including wine and beer and ordering tons of food and the most expensive things on the menu, was still less than lunch for two at the Marriott!
The food was also over-the-top delicious. We started with naans (rosemary was our favorite, garlic was super good too) and sauces (mango was amazing but all were excellent) and hummus to start and then an entree per person to all share. We were overfull when we left, even though we couldn't come close to finishing what we'd over-ordered...but the food was so fantastic we all couldn't stop eating.
We ordered chicken, lamb and lobster and shrimp dishes and a saag paneer and thought all were very good, but the lobster was exceptional. The saffron rice to accompany the dishes was tasty too.
There is no view from the restaurant (not that we cared). It's on the inland side of the main road along 7-mile beach in a strip mall, but indoors is attractive and there are linen tablecloths and napkins. Go for the food, the service and the reasonable prices.

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

I have been to India (Mumbai and New Delhi) and all over the UK and this was some of, if not the best, Indian food I have ever had. All the employees are extremely nice and we even got a free after dinner drink! If you are staying on Seven Mile Beach and are in the mood for Indian you have to go to Southern Spice!
