We had looked forward to a return visit to Agua with large family group. The evening began with a good table in the outside patio but deteriorated quickly. We had ordered 2 bottles of "Far Niente" Chardonnay from the exquisite wine list, but they were sold out. Suggested another Nickel and Nickel 2012 Chard which was far off the mark, but not offer to exchange it. Selected a DuMol chard which was just OK. But, I digress. Our dinner order took over 90 minutes to arrive (apologies all around as it have been "bumped" for a table of 15. When it did finally arrive, it was very disappointing. One would have hoped that the special of the day, a seafood risotto, would include fresh chopped tomatoes with basil and seafood, rather than a melange of soupy, saucy and overdone arborio rice. The wahoo special was fishy & inedible, and the paella was unrecognizable as the classic Catalan dish. Seared tuna was excellent, as was the fois gras; conch cerviche was so chewy as to be inedible and the tuna carpacio was warm. Alex, our waitress was understandably apologetic for the long kitchen wait, however, had the dinners been outstanding instead of disappointing, we would have survived. Not likely to return.
