During our trip to GCI, we stayed at the Ritz and had dinner at their signature restaurantt, Blue (which as long as you don't mind spending $300 to $500 for a couple, is a great experience). The next evening we ate at Agua. Had the sampler ceviche and the Asian Short Ribs as our openers. The Mahi Mahi was fresh and slightly sweet. My wife had the Swordfish, also very good. The price tag here is less than half that of Blue, and while the experiences and presentations are much different - Agua is much more casual - the quality of the ingredients feel the same to me. Nice wine list.

We had a great meal and service in January 2011, and I wrote a glowing review. We were looking forward to a return in May. The place seems to have gone upside-down. There were few customers, yet the service staff largely ignored us. Food was average at best. There are much better choices. Too bad.

We went during slow season so the restaurant was almost empty. The person who sat us wasn't particularly nice and was haughty. Another person asked us about drinks and he was rude too - just they way he responded to questions, the way he spoke to us, etc. Haughty too. Don't expect great service. They don't smile, they don't care, they take your order and serve you - nothing more. But I find a lot of restaurants on GC are like this. We had appetizers, drinks, and the lobster and shrimp pasta which was delicious. I loved the decor and lighting, it was very cozy. One night we couldn't decide where to go, wanted something close by, and wanted good food so we returned! Service was the same but by then we were used to it so ignored it and enjoyed our tasty food. It's expensive, it was over $100 both times for two people. I recommend trying it though, at least once. We saw couples there and several families so there is something for everyone. And they have the greatest desserts!

Agua was very much recommended by the Ritz. We walked about 10 minutes and arrived at a near-empty restaurant in a strip mall, admittedly, during the off-season. Because we were looking for a light meal - too much breakfast buffet at the Ritz - we ordered three appetizers. The lobster spring rolls, shrimp skewers, and short ribs were adequate. The short ribs were the best of the bunch in my opinion. A little indulgent, perhaps, but we had a chocolate caramel dessert which was blaise.

The place was very expensive as most eateries on the island; but all things considered, we wish we had returned to Ragazzi.
