This trip was our first time back to Cayman in many many years. We now remember why we used to love it here so much...anyway, we chose unit 33 at CRR and booked directly with the owner via VRBO. Easy & efficient process. The unit had a keypad/coded entry rather than keys; super not having to keep up with keys for the week! There was free wireless internet which we loved. The condo was clean and comfortable. The bathroom must have been recently renovated as it had beautiful tile - shower, no tub; there was also plenty of counter space and a clothes washer/dryer. The screened porch saw us at breakfast every day as we prepared for our morning beach walk. Hubby "napped" there during the visit. The beach.....ahhhhhh....situated just north of the Marriott and south of Royal Palms where a lot of cruise ship passengers visit, the beach is soft sand and you can walk for hours to the north! If you go very far south beach shoes will protect you from the rough ironshore found there but it is pretty in a different, rugged way. Snorkeling out front is fun but head down around the Marriott and you'll see more sealife. We dove with Ollen Miller who we had known from years before and were delighted that he and his operation were still top notch - offering small group diving. He now also has a shore dive operation at northwest point at the Cracked Conch Restaurant building that many rave over but weather kept us from giving it a try - maybe next time! A car isn't a must in the CRR location as there is convenient shopping close (take your own bags to the grocery store or you have to pay for bags) by BUT do yourself a favor and rent one for exploring the other areas of the island such as the Botanical Garden. Rum Point is beautiful but crowded. We were shocked at how much it had grown so we went around the corner to Kaibo Yacht Club and enjoyed a very relaxing lunch there. All in all we loved our trip and are already planning another!
