The property from the outside is not the most beautiful in the area, but once you go in, is simply gorgeous! We rented the unit 15. Townhome with 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. I just found two downsides in this property: the half bath downstairs was out of order, which made it a little unconfortable going up and down to use a restroom and the second is that the guest room is located towards the West Bay Road which is very busy 24/7, if you can't sleep easily, then you are not going to sleep. On the other hand, the townhome was beautiful, well decorated, everything was very modern and new. Well lighted and ventilated. Ceiling fans everywhere. Fully equipped kitchen, and when I say "fully" I mean that they even have clips for the bags, blenders, mixer, coffee maker, convection oven, all kind of glasses (champagne flutes, margaritas glass, martini glass, wine etc. The master bedroom has a beautiful view, the beds are very confy. In the second room we had a Queen size bed and Day bed convertible to another King size bed. The beach is very private. They have gazebos with tables an chairs, hammocks on the beach area, chairs and tables along the beach and you always find a spot. There is a supermarket 2 minutes from the property, you are 10 minutes from the airport, 3-5 minutes from restaurants and shopping area. 10 minutes or less from downtown. The maid service is only 3 days a week (M-W-F) but they give you plenty of towels and beach towels. I also was surprised to find 2 big umbrellas, very useful because it rained during my stay.

We LOVE staying at the Silver Sands. We've stayed there numerous times with our families. We always ask ourselves if we should try a new place on our next tropical vacation but we feel like this is our perfect spot. Not only does it have spacious units but it has beautiful grounds and a huge stretch of 7-Mile Beach. We have children of all ages in our group and everyone has something to do. The staff is very accomodating and the facility is very clean. Cemetary reef is just a short walk down the beach and the new Kitiwake dive site is just off the beach. We are looking forward to our next trip back!

Just returned from a wonderful week at Silver Sands in Grand Cayman. We stayed in Unit 35 a lovely two bedroom two and one half bath ground floor condominium 25 feet from the beach. The unit is nicely decorated in island motif. The unit is very well maintained and clean. Kitchen has all the amenities required including a blender for smoothies, mud slides and other tropical drinks. Bedrooms are immaculate with comfortable beds. The master bedroom has queen size bed with in suite bathroom. The second bedroom has two full beds and a trundle bed. Plenty of closet space and hangers.

The grounds are beautiful. The complex has 550 feet of beach with trees and tatched roof cabanas for shade. This is our 5th time staying in this complex and the beach is never crowded. Great snorkeling and scuba off the beach. There is also a large pool to relax in with a large gazebo for cocktails and grilling. Grills are provided. They also have a bocce ball court for entertainment

Room Tip: We love unit 35. You can park your car at the door and walk out to the beach and pool.

We visited in June 2012, stayed in unit # 15 for 8 nights. The condo itself was beautifully decorated, clean, organized, and included all sorts of little kitchen extras that made a big difference. The grounds are immaculant! The beach had plenty of chairs under shady areas. Best of all, because this beach is bigger than all the condos and homes around, the turtles nest here so you get to see all their nighttime work in the moring and watch them swim out front in the day. Snorkeling is good on either side walking just a few hundred yards left or right. All staff is very friendly. We met owners that welcomed us as renters and even offered for us to use their canoe boats! It doesn't get any friendlier than that. Indiana Family.

This was our sixth time at Silver Sands and we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. Everything on GC is expensive but SS is a great value. I can't say enough good things about it. Our family loves it and we hope to go back again.

It is located on the quiet end of the best part of the island.
From my estimation, SS has the widest beachfront and probably the deepest property, so it is always quiet and never seems crowded.
The grounds are immaculate, the pool isn't fancy but very pretty and clean.
Excellent snorkeling is available right off the beach.
SS is very family friendly and the staff is quite nice and helpful.
There is a grocery store about 90 seconds away (by car).
Plenty of parking and easy in-and-out.
Tennis courts.
Pavilion with two charcoal grills.
Several excellent restaurants are very close.
The condos are not plush, but are very nice. If you want plush, stay at the Ritz.
The turtle farm is nearby - very cool for children and adults.
The sunsets are magnificent.

If.....
you are going to be there more than a day or two...
have family/small children...
are considering eating in, whether cooking in the kitchen or on the grill (a huge money saver even though prices at the grocery store are high by our standards...
want a great beach to lay out on (or sit in the shade)...
then this is a great place...

We recently stayed at Silver Sands twice in one year; we went back because we loved it so much the first time. While we stayed in unit 33, they all appeared to be very nice.
The grounds are beautiful, the pool lovely and well kept, the gazebo where we barbecued (never a wait for a grill) and sat at tables to eat or watch the sunset; it was perfect.
The beach is beautiful with plenty of chairs; the snorkeling right there was unbelievable, and a swim down to Cemetery Beach so worthwhile (huge parrot fish, rays, lots of squirrelfish, lionfish; we even saw cuttlefish--a highlight for us).
We had a great time. I'd say more frequent housekeeping might be desirable, but it was adequate; and I think if we'd really wanted it, we probably could've gotten it upon request.
Wifi not great.

If you crave an expansive uncrowded beach with plenty of shade, sun and chairs, this is the place for you. We stayed a few condos down the beach at Discovery Point Club several years ago and switched to Silver Sands for this trip and were very happy that we did. The bedrooms have more space and the grounds are more of a campus feel with 7 buildings surrounding a pretty manicured garden/lawn and sizable, deep heated pool. Yes, they have a pool that actually is 9 feet deep - hard to find these days. Discovery Point has a hot tub, but in 85 degree weather in April, that was hardly missed at Silver Sands.

The 2 BR condo wasn't furnished up to our standards for a $500/night (incl tax) accommodation, but that's Cayman. You pay for location. . . which includes the ability to slide fins on and snorkel right off the shore towards cemetary reef and see a wide variety of fish. Almost half of the condos were rentals, the other half are owned. The place was deserted, with maybe 10 units occupied. I heard the same about other condo resorts along 7 mile as well.

I would encourage getting a second floor upper unit as the sound proofing between floors isn't the best. Our unit was one of 3 buildings that border the roadside, so our teens were up early every morn once the traffic got heavy, as their bedroom was on that side of the unit, but again, that's Cayman . . . most of the condos in that northern section of 7 mile are situated along the roadside due to the narrowness of the strip.

Reservations were easy to arrange, staff was helpful in recommending boat captains, etc and their website is very informative, with pictures of all their rental units.

If you're looking for a condo where you can cross the street to get to breakfast or dinner, you might look a mile more south towards Plantana or Avalon.

We did have a non-Silver Sands issue with snorkel rental. Beware of Diver Supply in West Shore Plaza. When we picked up our gear for the week, they indicated the price for every 2 days of rental. When we returned it 6 days later, a different counter person stated that the price was only for the first 2 days and then there's a higher daily rate after that. The rental gear was low quality . . . we would have been much better off simply purchasing better quality gear, hauling it back to the states and paying the additional luggage fee! Or it would be a nice added feature of Silver Sands management to provide rental equipment for a small fee.
