We just returned from Grand Cayman and stayed at Avalon on Seven Mile Beach.

The condo was unit #26 and was very clean and nice. The property managers were nice and helpful. It was a tad pricey, but it was just as advertised... a few notes in general about the location:

- if you do not see a wireless access point in the unit, ask the office. For a day I kept trying to connect to a different unit's and it never worked... I asked about it, they put one in our unit, and it worked great.
- the crowds from the cruise ships rarely made it up the beach that far
- the public beach is ~200 yards to the north, but the locals pretty much stayed there
- the beach was never busy even though everyone said it was the busy season... maybe ~10 people on that small stretch of beach at the most. A lot of time we had it all to ourselves
- they have busses that continuously travel the road along seven mile beach (West Bay?) (if you walk along the road they will honk to see if you want a ride). I believe it was 2 CI per passenger per trip.
- there are a few restaurants in walking distance, but everything is accessible with the busses
- one oddity we noticed in our short trip... I like to eat local places, but most locals just told us all the touristy spots. We did try a couple of places and we were the only caucasians the entire time. At all the other places, it was all caucasians. Not sure why or if we just did not find places where locals and tourists ate together... just seemed a little odd.
- there is a grocery store (Fosters Food Fair) as well as a bulk store (Cost U Less)
- there are almost no people bugging you trying to sell you things like most Caribbean resorts
- we found a great taxi driver, Ralston. He was nice and a had lived there his whole life and was a wealth of information: (345) 929-9825

If we can get reasonable flight prices... we would definitely go back.
Great time.

This was our fifth trip to Grand Cayman and our third stay at the Avalon. The location of this complex is perfect, the beach is as beautiful as you will ever find, the water reminds you of an infinity pool, the island residents are friendly, the restaurant options are plentiful, the sunsets are unbelievable, and the water sports are outstanding. The accommodations are spacious, clean, comfortable, well kept and current (technology). The Avalon has become our family's favorite place to visit and we hope to return year after year.

I have stayed at the Avalon with my family every January for many years now and have had a wonderful experience each time. Firstly, it is located on an unspoiled stretch of Seven Mile Beach - the beach is huge and uncrowded. Many other condos are situated near large resorts or have tiny beaches - the Avalon beach is much larger!!! We never had to worry about getting a chair nor did we ever feel cramped or forced to sit near other guests. The condo keeps the beach clean and there are not really any rocks or coral to make entering the water difficult. While the chairs are not the most comfortable, there are plenty of them along with small tables, loungers, and a few thatched huts for those who prefer shade (there are also a few cedar trees on the beach that provide shade, too). I only wish the chairs had cushions!!!

The pool is lovely and well maintained although I have never wanted to swim in it because the ocean is so wonderful. We have stayed in a few different units over the years and all of them have been clean, well appointed and comfortable. While all have patios that allow you to watch the amazing sunsets, it was nice to be in the units that were on the 1st floor so that we could walk directly onto the beach.

The Avalon condos can not be beat - by car you can easily reach restaurants, hotel spas, and town but you will not be bothered by large crowds of people on the beach. You can also take beautiful walks on the beach in both directions. You can eat lunch along the way, have a drink at a hotel bar, scuba dive or rent equipment at the nearby Westin, or just soak up the sun. Perfect!!!!

Outstanding villas on a serene area of 7 mile beach. Could not ask for anything better here. Have been travelling to Grand Cayman since 1979 (back then NO good condos at all and a step back in time)...Now--everything anyone would want from a creature comfort standpoint....

We just got back from the most relaxing 5 days in Grand Cayman. We stayed in condo #5. It was located on the first floor with a swimming pool just steps from it. We had the best view of the pool and the blue water. They were painting the exertior while we were there, but it did not disturb us a bit. The condo would be perfect for a large family. It had three nice sized bedrooms with t.v.s. ,and each had its own bathroom. The master bath had two sinks and seperate shower and bathtub. The master bedroom has an ocean front view and lani. The kicthen and family room were together and had an oceanfront view. It was very comfortable and roomy. There is plenty of shade on the beach. There are two tiki huts and large trees. It is in a uncrowded section of seven mile beach. It is walking distance to the Westin and the Ritz. We took the Red Sail Sports Snorkle trip through the Westin. I highly recommend this , as you get to snorkle with the stingrays and a coral reef. The manager is very accomodating as she let us have a late check out. I highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a quite retreat away from the crowds.
