“Can't stop coming back year after year!!!”
Reviewed March 3, 2011

Again, our vacation at the Marriot was relaxing and stress free as always. The beach for snorkeling, the best! The beds in the rooms are one of the reasons why we keep coming back. They are so comfy, your asleep the minute you lay down. What we love about the Island is that you can walk all over the Island any time any place and the people are so friendly. Our first year we rented a car , you have such great access to buses going every where you dont need to rent a car. Restaurants on the Island some of the best in the world. Never had a disapointing meal at any. Some of our favs are Copperfalls, The Sunshine Grill, Cimboco, Tim buc tuu, Coconut joes , The Warf and many more great rest. The only negative thing this year was the weather did not participate, we had cloudy days for 4 of our 7 days. BUT it still was great to be away from the Canadian snow where we live. Next year we are aiming for 2 weeks again at The Marriott Beach resort the service and fun keeps us coming back!

Very nice room, very affordable at $130/night for a King and an ocean view (not direct, but from the side window and balcony). Clean, tropical looking. Lobby and everything outside is gorgeous and spacious. There is a courtyard with a turtle pond and fountain that is neat, also a great pool and outdoor bar. Best part is that the hotel is on seven mile beach. They provide nice beach chairs and towels (but you have to get up early to get a chair in the front row). Beach is very nice- there are some man made reefs less than 20 feet off the resort which provides great snorkeling without going far. Although you can pretty much go anywhere along seven mile beach for snorkeling. Location is nice too- quick, cheap cab ride from the airport (maybe 10 minutes)... within walking distance to grocery store (20 min), restaurants (5-20 min).... not far from Georgetown (10 min bus ride for $2 per person). Although we prefer to adventure, if all inclusive is your style they also have that option and you would be happy without having to leave the resort. Can't wait to go back! If I would have to pick something bad the only thing I can come up with is that the resort can get pretty busy. We were there during the off season and there were still plenty of people around... so if you want to find a hole in the wall place you may want to keep longing.

What a great family vacation… I had read many mixed reviews about the Marriott and I was hesitant prior to going. We a arrived on Saturday of Presidents week (one of the busiest travel days of the year) and there was no line at all to check in- in fact when we told the taxi stand at the airport where were going there was a man standing there listening in a Marriott Shirt who asked us our name (I wasn’t sure i trusted him), but when we arrived at the hotel they were expecting us and greeted us by our name as the taxi door opened.
The staff at the hotel is the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. All the bar and wait-staff were a delight. They couldn’t do enough to accommodate you.
The rooms were fine… they were very clean. Not 1 bug the entire week (actually not 1 mosquito or bug anywhere the entire week). The double beds are rather small for 2 people so be careful if you try to get 4 people in 1 room, but the rooms with King beds have a pullout couch and the king bed rooms allow a rollaway bed (the two doubles do not for fire hazard), since the hotel was 100% booked we could not switch.
The food was surprisingly good. The fish was very fresh. We took the all-inclusive package because of all we read about the cost of food on the island, and it was the best thing we could have done. Most families ate breakfast in their room and good food from the supermarket for lunch. We had the pleasure of not thinking about it and enjoying the buffet breakfast and lunch either on the beach or overlooking the beach while in the sun all day..
The ocean is absolutely beautiful.. very calm and safe and decent snorkeling right at the beach..
We will be back for sure… a wonderful vacation.
Side-trip: Go into town and snorkel at Eden Rock, most amazing snorkeling I have even done. No need to pay a lot of $$$ to go on a boat out to a reef, this is right off shore in town. Go to the Eden Rock Dive shop and rent equipment there $15 and they have a ladder in back of their shop. Take the bus into town $2per person, a 5 minute ride, busses pass by the hotel every 2 minutes.
The Stingray city is very cool as well but you need to go on a tour for that, its pricey but worth it

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott for the first week of February - when trying to write this review I realized that I was kinda all over the board on this one, so just bear with me -- it'll all make sense (I hope) at the end. From the beginning:
~The location is great about a mile from down town, right at the beginning of 7 mile beach.
~ The lobby and all the staff that we encountered are very very nice, friendly and socialible
~ My closet at home is bigger than the fitness center here. The lobby is big and open very nice. The rooms - here's where it gets a little iffy... our room was big and on the ocean on the fifth floor. It had stunning views from the balcony, it was clean, but I felt like it was very musty and had a very 'old' feeling - granted it is the carribean and it does get hot and humid, but there has to be a way to combat this, we've never experienced that at any other resort in that climate. If you go, do yourself a favor DO NOT get a room on either the first or second floors.
~ I thought the beach was a little small - it just felt like everyone was sitting on top of each other. Forget the pool
~Restaurants: the food was really good but they seemed to run out of alot of things often. For example we ate at Solana our first night, thought it was excellent, and decided to go back on our last night there. The menu is very limited (about 10 entrees) which was great the items they had were really good -- but on the second visit they were out of 7 out of the 10 items! But don't wait for the server to tell you that, after every order we tried to place would be followed by,"i'm sorry we're out of that this evening"
Every night we would have a cocktail at Balboa's lounge -- and every night they would be out of something different, wether it be a beer, bottle of wine or champagne.
If you go to Sol Bar -- DO NOT sit at the back of the bar (with your back to the hotel & facing the beach) the stench of garbage is overwhelming.
~ there is a really cute man made reef right off the beach, lots of fish and such, but they should have something in the rooms or posted warning people of all the sea urchins that live in the little nooks and crannys - if you don't know what they are and grab one (which alot of people were doing) that could ruin a vacation.
Overall we loved Grand Cayman, the people were so friendly, the diving is wonderful and sunsets stunning -- next time definately a different hotel.

Went for a short get-away with my wife and stayed at the Marriott - mostly due to location and using Rewards Points. It's a busy hotel and beach area, lots of families and kids. If you are looking for a quiet get-away, this is not your best option on 7 mile beach. Rooms and food are expensive, but not surprising given the location. Food was decent. Pool was small. Our ground-floor, garden view room was certainly nothing special. We needed to keep the blinds shut most of the time to avoid guests in the public garden just outside. The room was standard and no added amenities (iPod dock, etc.). The entire staff was really, really nice.

From the moment my husband and sons in their 20's entered this hotel, we were welcomed by one of the friendlist staff we have had at any of the many hotels we have stayed at on the islands. Caesar even remembered our names, and other staff were so helpful and nice! Big rooms, lovely grounds, and the beach has snorkeling right off it. Solara restaurant (Savio amazing waiter) with outside dining our favorite and food amazing! I have never seen such huge lobster tails-beautiful sunset dining. We were on the all inclusive plan, as food on the islands of course is more expensive. We were worried about being stuck, but Solara so wonderful for dinner we went there 3 times. Turtle courtyards lovely and peaceful. Dive shop has great staff and safe trips, and can sign you up for snorkeling trips, dive trips, and sunset cruises. Or very helpful Divina or Kristen at the front desk area, can suggest tours, etc.
Pool is not big but cozy and lots sun chairs available.
Things wish were changed: Pool needs more lighting at night and around beach area for people who want to swim. Would have loved to see a game room(ping pong- pool-etc)and even more steel bands playing , but we loved this hotel, staff, food, and would return again!!

From the moment we arrived at the Marriott, we were greeted as treasured guests - and we left as friends. This is a hotel run for guests. Everything we needed was anticipated and right where we needed it - brochures, benches, snacks, towels, meals, beach stuff, events, pool, computer access, spa, washrooms close to the beach, drinks, cool places to relax, fun places to mix and mingle etc. The views of Seven Mile beach - sea and sky - are spectacular. The beds are divine. While it is a large hotel, there was a lovely feeling of belonging and care for guests. It is a community. We highly recommend this hotel - and Grand Cayman.
