“Friendly family oriented atmosphere”
Reviewed January 31, 2010

We just got back from a week at the Marriott and had a great time. The people were friendly, courteous and helpful. We really never encountered any unpleasentness outside of one of the vendors selling Cuban cigars in their lobby during the week (the slick fast talking was a little slimy). All the staff was helpful and our experience would make us come back for sure!

Booked over the internet as we wanted a hotel that faced 7 mile beach. We arrived 4th January, hotel was fully booked and the room we reserved had only a partial ocean view. I asked for a better room and request was refused. As our room was not ready we had lunch and I then returned to the reception. This time I was greeted by a lovely girl from Jamica, staff display a badge indicating where they are from.
As I had been to Jamica we chatted about the great country it is. My friendly Jamican receptionist then located a nice room directly on beach front. Ok it did overlook the beach bar, but we can put up with that to see the ocean. The hotel runs very nicely, just a magic location.

Clean hotel in a good location, but don't eat or drink there! Buffett breakfast is advertised at $17, but that's Cayman dollars. 20% gratuity automatically added. Total charge for 2 was $52 American. Coffee was $5.50/Styrofoam cup. Small plastic glass of beer: $6.50 American. Internet use in hotel lobby: $4 American/15 min., $20/day in room. Never again

We used the new all inclusive program at the Marriott and other than a few minor glitches we were very pleased with our stay. The food was incredible for an all-inclusive, the resort amenities were well kept up and beautiful and the staff was absolutely amazing! Most Carribean staff is considered slow by American standards, but not true at this resort. The staff was from all over the world and friendly, prompy and went out of their way to be prompt and please the guests. The only thing we failed to do is read the fine print on the description of the all-inclusive that a 15% gratuity charge would be added to out meals and drinks and was not covered by the flat fee we paid. The only other issue we had was the fact that we were not awarded Marriot Reward Points because we used a travel agent to book the trip (she got us better ait fares). I have to admit we were mislead by the travel agent that we could provide our Reward Card on check in and would get the points and our fault for not confirming that fact in advance.

I planned this 5 day trip for my wife and two college age children. We used reward points for two rooms and the all inclusive deal. My goal was to spend cash on scuba diving only and with the exception of one or two meals we did so entirely within plan. The all inclusive was lovely - I'll have another pina colada please... without a thought for the bar bill. The main restaurant was superb; but, there were two event nights for which all inclusive did not cover the expenses. These were big seafood parties with beach side seating. For both we elected to eat elsewhere and I'll only warn away guests from the italian restaurant option as another hotel alternative to the main restaurant - our food there was very disappointing. But each day breakfast and lunch were great, and the evening sunsets from the main restaurant patio were unforgettable. Our rooms faced inside, so we did not have an ocean view. We were not unhappy since the garden courtyard was quite nice; but, I'd not want a room with a view of the outside sides. You'd just be looking at the next hotel with only a glimpse of ocean. All in all there is plenty of ocean viewing without worry about views from the room, though. The beach is right on the property, not a long walk at all, and the pool side is very comfortably serviced. We dove with Cayman Diving School, a great outfit with Renee as the manager and very easy-going and experienced dive masters such as Malen. I will recommend Cayman Diving School to anyone! They picked us up from the hotel and dropped us off at the end of our dives each day. And, they have a comfortable style that will make new divers feel secure so to enjoy the experience while leaving more experienced divers free to explore. And they're flexible too when weather demands changes as it did on our trip. The combination of great hotel service and a great diving shop at one of the world's premiere dive and beach destinations made a great trip.

Stay at the Treasure Island Condo's which was a short walk on the beach to the Marriott. We walked over on Tuesday 1/12/2010. The weather was windy and there was not alot of people on the beach. We reclined in there chairs ordered drinks and food. Our waitress who was from Brazil (Marasetta) was very nice and polite. We returned on Thursday to spend the day at the beach rent wave runners. After spending the day on the beach lounging in there chairs and spending a substantial amount of money on drinks and food. Renting 3 waverunners, being accused of wrecking the wave runners, we were approached by a manager who wanted us to pay $10.00 per person to sit on the beach chairs. One important fact was our party was the only African American Tourist on the beach. Our waitress again was Marasetta from Brazi who we sought out because she was very nice to us two days before. I could understand wanting to charge for the use of beach chairs had we just been occupying them and not spending any money at the hotel, but our food bill was $160.00 for 4 people and our bar tab was $90.00. That upset our group and we packed up and left the hotel.
