I am a Marriott fanatic. I will purposely look to stay at a Marriott over any other property. The location along 7 Mile Beach is terrific. The is very friendly and very good. The only thing I did not like was the pillows and the beds they are not the typical Marriott bedding. To the point that I wish I had brought my own pillows. The Hotel is well keep but it is getting older and could use a refresh sometime in the near future.

The hotel has a great location, a friendly staff, a nice pool with a jacuzzi and an awesome beach. The entire hotel is very clean and well kept. The bars are very small and not too inviting. The restaurants are not on pace with the restaurants on the island or in other hotels but everything os very close so it really did not matter to me. This hotel is all about the beach!

Brought my family (using Marriott Reward pts getting the former all inclusive package) for a much needed week long vacation a few years ago (tripadvisor only allows me to select as far back as Oct 2012). The problem with a beautiful property like this is that you're tempted to check in and never leave to visit other parts of the surrounding locale. Amazing beach, ridiculously clear water, staff completely understood our need to relax and enjoy ourselves after a very rush, rush year.

F&B was among the best I've had at a full service property. Would love to return some day.

The Marriott Grand Cayman has a GREAT location and some excellent staff, but largely disappoints.

PROS:
* The location on 7 Mile Beach is convenient to Georgetown as well as to Camana Bay. It's conceivable that you could stay here and forgo a car rental.
* Lisa behind the bar is a top notch bartender and knows the island well.
* The artificial reef a few feet off the beach is a great place to snorkel.
* Lisa behind the bar, and Arlene the Vacation Planner are EXCELLENT resources.
CONS:
* There was mildew on the ceiling in our bathroom. I get that it's the Caribbean and that it's humid, however it wouldn't be much trouble for the maid staff to wipe it down with some bleach and a rag. This was the first sign of a lack of attention to detail and it should have been our warning to leave.
* Our shower was incapable of delivering a constant stream of water at a steady temperature. We took showers that started off luke-warm, quickly transitioned to cold, then to dangerously hot, then to cold, then . . . . you get the picture.
* The food at the beach-side bar was mediocre on the first day and absolutely terrible the next. We had appetizers at the hotel, but didn't dare eat a whole meal there.
* A spent room service tray sat in the hallway for greater than 36 hours. It wasn't until I asked the front desk if they were going to tend to it that it disappeared.
* On our last day on the island, the housekeeping staff seemed to be having a party outside of our room. Several of them and their carts were gathered outside of our room late in the day, they were there for a while, and at least one of them seemed drunk.
* When I asked to speak with the manager I was put in touch with Alex, the front office manager. Alex admitted though that his job was strictly front office and that he wasn't the property manager. So I was put in touch with . . . . not the guy I wanted to speak with.
To sum this all up, the hotel is suffering from a lack of leadership. There are some great people working this property, but it's suffering. Arlene, the Vacation Coordinator is fantastic, as is Lisa, the bartender. But they aren't enough to make me come back. At this price there's simply too much competition on 7 Mile Beach and as of now Marriott isn't competing.

This hotel is in a fabulous location. You can snorkel directly behind the hotel.
We saw turtles and some wonderful coral. It's within walking distance of many shops and restaurants, BUT, once you are there you won't want to leave. But no worries, they have 3 restaurants and 2 bars.

We booked an excursion to Stingray City thru the hotel and it was wonderful.
They also have a very nice gym making it easy to get in a workout even on vacation.

One of my favor things about this hotel was the pond/creek in the middle filled with small turtles and seating around it with calming music piped into the area. WONDERFUL, loved it.

Room Tip: You can spend the money for an ocean view room but we did not. There are so many lounge chairs outs...

Family that included 2 grandchildren enjoyed the stay on the beach. We walked the beach early in the morning, swam during the day, and ended the day with a walk on the beach.

Rooms were beautiful with a good view of the ocean. Elementary school grandchildren enjoyed the beach activities and other island activities. They participated in the kids activities making the trip memorable.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny

We booked right before our trip and got a great deal! We checked the national hurricane website beforehand to ensure we'd have good weather. They are redoing some of the rooms on the upper floors but in 6 days we only heard them working once. We had a newly renovated room which was beautiful. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was very large, and we even had a couch and mini fridge in our room.

The staff there are very nice especially the bellman and those at the front desk. You can get towels for the beach and even chaise lounge covers for free with your room number. The beach is gorgeous, with crystal clear water. There is some snorkeling right outside the resort and lots of fish to see on the reef balls the hotel is using to help rebuild the reef in front. We even saw a sea turtle one day. They have some floating disks and other things to lay out on in the water. Lots of chaise lounges on the beach and at the pool they are even cushioned.

We had the lobster dinner which was $10 more per person than advertised in the cayman cuisine book given to us by the front desk. We would pass on it next time.

Drinks all over the island are expensive!! Go to the liquor store (they are everywhere) and make your own drinks. I'd recommend a cayman lemonade :). Also, get a car if you are feeling adventurous!! A taxi ride from the airport is about $30! We got a car for about $125 for 6 days! It is a bit odd bc they drive on the other side of the road but you get used to it. Be prepared though, the rental cars are about 2 sizes smaller than the standard in the US. We had a tiny car but it was all we needed.

Stores on the island are sometimes closed more often if there arent cruise ships. ot was very slow when we were there so it was relaxing, but some stores didn't even open a few days. Visit the turtle farm and go to sting ray city! Both are wonderful and if you are a diver try out living the dream diving -AMAZING!!
