My family and I have been visiting Grand Cayman for 20 years. In the past we had eaten at the old Reef Grill and visited the Royal Palms bar, but have not been back in several years. We decided to try Royal Palms for dinner this past December. We ate on the main, lower patio -- casual seating right on the beach which is a great atmosphere when it is not too windy. On the night we were there, a band was playing. We enjoyed the music very much, although it can be a little loud, so be aware of this when you choose your seating.
We were most pleasantly surprised by the food. My son declared his hamburger and conch fritters to be some of the best on the island. My husband and I both enjoyed our red beet and arugula salads, and the scallops were well cooked in a delicious sauce. My main complaint was I thought 3 scallops were a little chintzy -- I would have expected at least 4 for a main course dinner.
The service was friendly. All in all, a very positive experience, and we will definitely add it to our list of restaurants to revisit.
