“Beautiful pieces - they are very talented artists”

We stopped in the Island Glassblowing Studio after reading the great reviews. The artists there are very talented and friendly, and they can make gorgeous personalized pieces for you. My daughter is obsessed with turtles, and she wanted one made with specific colors for her room. They made a little turtle for her while we watched the whole process. There have beautiful pieces, from ornaments, bowls, animals, plates and decorative items. I especially like that it is a family-owned, local shop with items made right there, so you feel better about purchasing from them. I would definitely recommend shopping here for one of a kind gifts.

If you have a port of call in Grand Cayman and want to bring home a real shopping deal, TURN LEFT when you exit the pier and take a brief walk along the main road.

While visiting during our Carnival Cruise (CCL Conquest), we opted to buck the big corporate jewelry tour that the cruise line recommended and, instead, take a leisurely stroll in the opposite direction from what was indicated on the provided maps.

In addition to finding some nice beaches and local flavor food, we also came across a lovely family-owned glass blowing studio just a short walk from the arrival pier. The creations on display were beautiful representations of many of the island's features. All were handmade locally by the artisans right there onsite. They'll even give demonstrations to tourists who happen to stop in.

We had previously purchased some martini olive picks at a glassblowing shop in Hawaii, but they turned out to be too short and not nearly what we were looking for. So we let the folks on Grand Cayman have a go at them. We described what we wanted, agreed on a very affordable price, and then left to further explore the coast while they created our olive picks. When we returned a couple of hours later, our items were cooled and waiting for us. The artistry was excellent.

I couldn't believe that the so-called "Shopping Experts" on the cruise ship had somehow overlooked this one-of-a-kind local shop in all of their pre-arrival presentations about how to get great deals while in port. Having heard from fellow passengers about the questionable quality of the imported jewelery (which seems to be the big industry in this port town), we were pleased to relate how we got such a deal on some genuine locally produced glassware - it was even locally produced while we were on the island.

We've been visiting the island for over 12 yrs yet never went to this shop. Very sorry to have missed out all these years. But we'll be faithful customers from this point on! I bought a few pieces and feel for the beauty and craftmanship, I'd have paid more without question. It's not a mass produced place and the family that create these beautiful pieces also run it. Looking forward to returning with our children and letting them pick a few things out. Also, they have a website with probably most if not all of the wares AND they will make something for you if it's possible in addition to using the colors you request. Such a great find right out in the open on the way to/from Georgetown.

This was our 3rd trip to the glassblowing shop. Last April the owner made a turtle for my grandson, purple and teal, this trip we requested another one just like the first, no problem. I'm a flip flop nut and had several made of different colors for necklaces. The buisness is family run with everyone so friendly. This shop is worth a visit for the unusual souvinier.

My family visited the studio on a whim after being stuck in some George Town traffic. We approached the studio slowly enough for us all to decide that we wanted to go in and have a look around. The people there were very friendly and didn't follow you around and pester you to buy things like they do in some of the shops in George Town. If you visit at the right time, you may even get to see them blowing a glass object that will later be put in the gift shop.

The store has all sorts of neat things: suncatchers, ornaments, jewelery, figurines, bowls... they even had pretty glass stingray's and turtles that remind you of the Cayman's. The prices seemed pretty fair, and when you make a purchase, they package it up carefully so you can get it home safely.

Island Glassblowing Studio is a great place to visit, with lots of unique goodies. I wasn't able to leave without getting a lovely purple starfish that now hangs in my window!
