Went to Gr Cayman on a cruise last fall. Booked the excursion through the cruise line. They use Don Foster's. This was my 14 year old daughter's first ocean dive after getting certified. I told the DM that. She has sinus/allergy issues and sometimes has trouble clearing her ears. I told them that too.
We had to descend the mooring line slowly so she could clear her ears.As we were headed down, I looked down at the group and saw them moving off. My wife and step-daughter tried to hang back but had to stay with the group.
My daughter and I got to the bottom about a minute later. We headed in the groups last known direction, but couldn't see them. So we turned around and spent 30 minutes looking around within sight of the mooring line so we didn't get lost. We found the group as they were heading back so we did spend about five minutes with the group.
I got certified 30 yrs ago. Back then, Gr Cayman was consistantly in the top three of diving spots in the world. I'd always wanted to go there and finally got a chance to go with my family of newly certified divers. This was very disappointing.
I know the dive boat was full. I know they contract with the cruise line and have already been paid.I'm sure cruise divers are a pain in the ^#%, but YOU DON'T LEAVE A DIVER.
I will definitely go back to Grand Caymanl probably on another cruise. But I will book our dives myself - not through the cruise line. I will not use Don Foster's again.
