The chef will do anything to tweak a dish so that it suits you exactly. Don't hesitate to ask. The service is excellent, too

La Dolce Vita is a short walk from downtown Georgetown, of the second floor in a small building overlooking the ocean. We did not have a reservation on a busy Saturday night, but they graciously accommodated us. We had a very nice evening. Service was prompt and helpful. The food was quite good -- we hit 50/50 on the appetizers. One, the tuna, was light and succulent. The other, potato covered with fondue-style cheese, was dull and uninteresting. Give that one a pass. The main courses were good -- a nice salad with tiger shrimp added and a lovely fettuccine Alfredo, also with tiger shrimp. The pasta was terrific and the salad very good. We did have one problem. We ordered the blackened shrimp on both mains but got regular tiger shrimp -- and they were unfortunately quite bland. We tried to correct the mistake when our plates arrived but were told that they had it right. So, we forged ahead, only to discover we had standard tiger shrimp. At the end of the meal, we pointed out the mistake. The waiter indicated that he made a mistake. If there was an apology, we both missed it -- and there was no adjustment to the bill. (We had worried about the waiter's ability to understand our order in the first instance, so we had repeated it several times and even pointed to the blackened shrimp on the menu. Mistakes happen so we were not overly disappointed, but it did take the edge off a rather lovely evening.

The restaurant was really busy as our visit coincided with a US school holiday week. However, the staff were personable, very Italian, and jollied us along at every juncture. The food was very good, especially the beef carpaccio, four sausage pizza and seafood linguine (all home prepared, hugely fresh, and cooked to perfection - except the carpaccio).

Although I really enjoyed myself, I bet it would be even better if the restaurant were not heaving (even this fact speaks for itself).

Having tried both these top rated Italian restaurants, this was in another league. The food was superb, as was the service. We had the daily special of lobster and home made fettuccine, and a shrimp pasta in a spicy tomato based sauce. The setting is pleasant when eating on the balcony, and we enjoyed a drink at the bar before eating. Thoroughly recommended.

We ate here twice, during our perfect vacation week. From pizzas made in brick ovens, to a beautiful melt in your mouth filet, to home made pasta, everything was excellent. Our waiters were Luka and Ken and both were very very nice, always smiling and helpful, as were all staff. We received complimetary Bruschetta which was wonderful!! The Napoles were the best dessert I have ever eaten. The view was lovely, especially if you wanted a sunset view. You can dress up or be casual here, but put it on your list to dine!!
