We tendered into the dock from our cruise ship and asked a local what beach was the best. He told us to walk through the port gate and turn left at the street. We walked about 200 yards to the local bus stop where a mini-van picked us up and took us to 7 Mile Beach. We were dropped off at the Beach Club gate after paying $2.50 fare. Cover to use the club facility was $2.00.

The beach here is clean and well kept. There are cabanas, chairs, a pool and changing facilities. All sorts of water "toys" are available for rent. The restaurant and bar are well staffed with friendly accomodating people.

After about 3 hours of enjoyment, we walked out to the street where we hailed another mini-van back to the ship ($2.50), shopped a little and got on the tender for our return to the ship.

My niece and I were in Grand Cayman on a Disney cruise and I chose Royal Palms based on reviews here in Tripadvisor. We had no problems getting a taxi to or from Royal Palms. The driver on the way over from the Port was very friendly. Royal Palms was the perfect spot for my two year old niece. We got there early and had chairs ($5 per person) and an umbrella ($10) right along the beach. They didn't charge us any entrance fee. The water was calm and beautiful. Immediately as we entered the water we were able to see different fish. I was suprised how close they came to the water's edge. Around 11:00 am or so several other families arrived from the ship and it was much busier. However there was plenty of beach/sand for the kids to build sandcastles without being on top of each other.

I met up with another family from the ship and we sampled a few different alcoholic drinks. All were good and definitely not watered down. The kids also loved their smoothies. We didn't have anything to eat so can't speak of that.

I would recommend Royal Palms Beach Club to others.

We were on a cruise to the Caribbean aboard the Carnival Victory with a stop in Georgetown, grand Cayman. After an exciting, action packed day in Ocho Rios we decided that we wanted our day in Grand Cayman to be mellow and relaxing. Royal Palms was the perfect place for just this! I had found out about them thanks to TripAdvisor and another travel review site. We were able to catch a cab from the pier to Ryal Palms for $4 US per person. Beach access at the gate was $3 US pp to gain access to their beach club. Inside we found a lovely pool with swim up bar, for adults only, a beautiful bar with wrap around seating in the shade and a large shaded patio with several tables. Just off the patio is a long stretch of beach with many lounge chairs that can be rented for $7 US. They also had umbrellas and floats available to rent (I believe they were $10 US a piece). There were jet ski rentals available here and a boat was shuttling folks to a spot for parasailing. We enjoyed a mellow day sipping cocktails in our lounge chairs and dipping into the clear, beautiful warm waters of the beach. It was heavenly! Drinks are a little expensive and please note the menu prices are in Cayman currency, so in USD it will be more expensive. 2 frozen drinks cost about $18-20 US a round. They did have a good kick to them though and were delicious. The bartenders were friendly & efficient and we did have server on the beach stop by several times during our stay to ask if we needed anything. We prefer to go straight to the bar though to get our own, as after a generous tip for the first round, the drinks seemed to be a bit stronger from then on from our favorite bartender. We felt the charge for beach access and lounge chair rentals to be fair and worth the money to enjoy a day on the beach not feeling crowded, and enjoying it at our own pace.

We went to this resort based on Tripadvisor reviews, we had read that sometimes the taxi drivers wanted to take you further up the road, but our driver tried to get everyone to use this place. We paid our $2.00 a person entrance fee and then rented two chairs for $10.00. The beach is not very large but the water is gorgeous, we went in and the water was pleasant and you could see fishing swimming about you. The resort has a nice bar near the beach and they also have an adults only pool that you can use if you buy something to eat. There was a Disney ship in port that day and the beach quickly filled up with families with a lot of small kids. Because of the size of the beach we were overwhelmed with kids. Once it really got crowded it started to rain heavily so we decided to head back to town. There were a lot of taxi’s out front so we went back to town to walk around before it was time to leave. I would like to visit this place again when the weather is better.

Visited Royal Palms while on a cruise this month.
First the driver, went by it (there were quite a few of us wanting to go there but did not know where it was) and went approx 15 minutes further than needed therefore we lost a good 30 minutes.

Royal Palms charges $2 pp to get in, $5 pp for beach chairs and $10 for umbrella. This would not have been bad if there were chairs available. We lost half the day waiting for a chair despite a lot of extra ones pilled up by the building which were not being made available, We still had to pay full price even though we only had a couple of hours left.

Staff were nice, food good except for burned sweet potato fries but prices were high.

All in all, it is handy to cruise port but not worth the money.
