“This is the most amazing attraction- Don't be scared!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2014

I am not squeemish, but I am not overly adventurous. I typically evaluate risk and take small chances. I was nervous about this one, but it turned out to be one of the most memorable things in my lifetime. Utterly astonishing how they just swim right up to you, friendly and curious. Get over the initial shock and think about touching, holding, or feeding one. Sheer delight you will rememebr for a lifetime!

“Don't Miss This !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2014

Many different charter operations can take you to this location. Its a few miles off the coast, can only access this shallow sandbar area by boat. The stingrays congregate in the area, and are very docile and friendly. Many of them seemed to be missing their barb, maybe the locals are trimming barbs to reduce the possibility of a potential tourist injury? The story was told that originally the Cayman fisherman would stop in this calm area to clean their catch, (because flies were so bad at the dock) and the stingrays would eat the fish carcasses. Now it seems that the boat loads of tourists are feeding the stingrays, so they return every day. Whatever the reason, it was awesome to interact with these docile wild creatures. The area gets very crowded with people and boats, we went late in the day, and were the only boat on the spot......But there were 40 people on the boat......so if you go in the middle of the day, there could be a crowd. Will definitely return to this experience next time we are in Cayman. If this review helps your planning, please leave a helpful vote.....ENJOY

“The highlight of our cruise experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2014

We booked this excursion through our cruise line (RC) and it was truly the highlight of our trip. My family of 10 including 4 children between 7-11 could not stop talking about the experience.

Our tour started with a drive around the island with "Anjou," a wealth of information and a great singer who serenaded us with his own reggaed versions of '80s hits. We stopped by "Hell," a quick visit to see interesting rock formations, and then the sea turtle facility, which we all really enjoyed. Everyone held a turtle, and the kids could even get into a little pool with them.

The main act of course was Stingray City - a boat ride of about 30 minutes to a sand bar area where sting rays cluster to be fed by tourists. It was amazing to stand in the water and feel them sweep by your legs - their texture is soft and almost feather-like - really cool.

Everyone had the chance to take a photo with a stingray, and some were able to feed them a squid - although we ran out of squid far before everyone had a turn.

My only regret was that the area was so crowded that our interaction was fairly limited. I would have loved to spend more "one-on-one" time with the sting rays.

“Really Extraordinary!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2014

All I can say about Stingray City is WOW. And i've been twice.

You hop on this boat and drive out to the middle of the ocean - where for some strange reason, the water is about 1 metre deep, with no coral, just sand, and you're absolutely surrounded by stingrays.

Our tour guides were excellent and very friendly and fun. They run the best boat out to Stingray City by far (as it being a tourist attraction, there are many companies that can take you out).
Our guides have guidelines such as don't scream or flail your arms and legs as this can distress stingrays, something which all the other tour boats' tourists were doing (especially large old ladies screaming and laughing very loud). Also a rather pretentious family on our boat asked if they could snorkel out by themselves as they were "pro-snorkellers", the guides told them that they were putting themselves at risk snorkelling as they don't advise you do that either.

The guides are mad though - they'll pick up a stingray and either put it on top of you or let you kiss it for good luck. You can also feed them small squid, HOWEVER as I learned, do this perhaps towards the end of your visit as it will make you smell like squid and stingrays WILL NOT leave you alone!

I think the key thing here is that if you are going to go out to Stingray City you should try to have the utmost respect for these creatures. They're beautiful and elegant however if riled can kill. Treat them nicely and the least they'll do is swim close so that their stinger/tail brushes against your leg, which can feel like it's scratching you - but it isn't.

Definiately once in a lifetime - definately reccommend!

“Unique experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

We did a wave runner tour on a Saturday morning (a no cruise day). Even we read the reviews and saw the pictures/videos online before, we were still amazed by the opportunities to interact with the stingrays. We fed, held and kissed the stingrays (our guide, Carl from Action Watersports, did a great job)! We were glad we went early (9:30A) and were able to take photos without too many ppl or boats in the background. Since even on a no cruise day, by the time we left (around 10), there were several boats (one of the big ones carried more than 30 ppl) at the scene. I can image on a cruise day and in the middle of the day, this unique place would will be much less amazing!
