A wonderful experience. You take a launch out for a few miles to a sandy bar. It is only about three feet deep. However, there are hundreds of stingrays that are using to being fed there. It is so wonderful to get to interact with these lovely creatures.

Tips

TIP1: You will probably be supplied cut up squid to feed the stingrays. If you are, be aware that any place you place that scent will attract the stingrays. They have very strong sucking mouths. So if you put squid on your thigh, then you can easily get a hickey from their sucking mouths. I think it goes without saying for you guys.. keep your hands above your waist. LOL

TIP2: Sunblock, swimsuits

TIP3: Take an underwater camera. They are cheap.. and well worth the picture

Just returned from a family vacation on Grand Cayman. Went to Stingray City Sandbar with Cptn Marvin. I don't know that there is a bad operator out there.... they brought along punch and water, but we also brought our own water along (which we wouldn't have had to do).

When the boat first arrives (there were only 15 of us on this boat), the Stingray reminded me of puppies..... they all swam over to see the new people and to get some food! It's a little strange at first, but we all (5 kids ages 8 - 16) held a ray, and kissed it for 7 years good luck! This was THE coolest thing we did on the island.

We all highly recommend the visit

After reviewing many online comments we chose Acquarius Sea Tours and were delighted we did. You will not see them advertised much nor find fancy brochures in hotel lobbies. Word of mouth has built Captain Mario's business over the past 25 years. Everyone on our tour that day had read about Acquarius and the Captain on Trip Advisor. His morning trips visit a snorkeling reef, the shallow waist high waters of Sting Ray City and a private beach where you can relax and handle the starfish he and his crew find in the waters. All stops were also educational as the Captain and his first mate explain the wildlife and history.
With a cabin cruiser designed to hold 40, he never takes more than 25 passengers. A large front deck, upstairs and downstairs seating provide options for everyone. Our trip had only 17 as no cruise ships were in port that day. This not only allowed for personalized attention but also less than 4 boats at both the snorkeling reef and Sting Ray City. This was particularly important at Sting Ray City because the Rays had only a few boats to crowd around for food and fun.
Children were even invited up to the bridge to "help" Captain Mario navigate.
Captain Mario and his crew are very friendly, knowledgeable and caring of the sting ray and starfish habitats. I almost felt they knew every sting ray by name making sure many were fed some squid and fondly holding them even as we waded back to the boat.
At Sting Ray City we all had the opportunity to touch, hold, feed, kiss and be photographed with the Sting Rays. BTW there is no charge for the photos he takes nor for transportation to/from your hotel.
Bottom line, if you want a local guide that offers a memorable and reasonably priced 4 hour adventure Captain Mario and Acquarius Sea tours www.acquarius.ky can't be beat.

Great experience, but just be warned that it can be crowded when the cruise ships are docked in Georgetown. Find a charter that does not try to cram 25 people on a boat for 10. Afternoon trips seem to be less crowded with fewer boats. Very friendly rays, but I have seen grown men not leave the boat...just kidding.
