We traveled to Peter Island late in April 2014 and have nothing but praise for this resort. We loved every minute of our trip and cannot wait to come back. From the beautiful island, to the service and the staff, to the unique amenities, and the beautiful beaches- we couldn't have asked for a better trip. We had high hopes for this resort after reading all of the very positive reviews on TA- and it didn't disappoint. We honestly couldn't have a had a better time. What's so great about this resort is that its very small- you never feel crowded and it's very peaceful. That being said, this resort does get a lot of boaters as well- and it keeps things lively seeing who is coming in and out.
We stayed in the Oceanfront rooms on the second floor- and our room was fabulous. The view outside our balcony was amazing- and it was so fun to watch the ships come in and out, watch the sunrise, and just listen to the waves. I definitely think if you can upgrade to the oceanfront rooms- do it. It's worth it to be so close to the beach. The room was comfortable- it wasn't the nicest room I have even been in- but it's very nice and comfortable- and we honestly barely spent time in the room.
The thing we loved the most was the unique activities- from the sunset circle- watching the sun set over St. John with wine and cheese- who can beat that? We loved it so much we did it two times! We also loved the private Honeymoon beach that we got to rent for a 1/2 day- and also the white bay cabanas. One of the best things about the resort is that its small, private, and you feel very catered too. It was familiar faces at each breakfast, lunch, dinner, on the beach- it was really nice to get to know this amazing staff who clearly love their jobs- it shows!
In regards to the food- it was better than we expected and we loved every meal- as everyone say's- get the coconut crusted French toast by Jean Kelly- to die for! We also really enjoyed the Saturday night gala buffet and all our dinners at Tradewinds. If you are contemplating doing the meal plan- just do it. It makes it so much easier and it's nice not to have to worry about watching the bills pile up. The food is expensive- and you want to be able to eat and enjoy your trip- just do it- you will make out ahead. One of the highlights of our trip as well was Rimple, the food and beverage manager- he was so helpful and really a lot of fun to hang around with too :). We missed the Thursday night Vintners dinner due to our ferry arriving late, Rimple found us after the dinner, and offered to do a private tasting for us- which did and loved. How is that for service? We also did the Tuesday night wine tasting as well- and loved that too.
In regards to other activities- we snorkeled - they offer gear for each guest for free, used the spa and got massages- the spa is very beautiful and serene, used the water sports, and took advantage of the wine events. Enough for you to do, but enough for you not to do as well. We also spent plenty of time lounging on the beach.
The staff is top notch- a call out to Denise at the front desk- we loved her! Captain at the bar- Rimple again, and Maxine in the restaurant- you guys made our trip! This is a very special place-just book it and go- you will not be disappointed!
