We picked the Island of Anegada as the first week of a three week honeymoon. The idea was to start the holiday in peace and quiet after the build up and excitement of the big day. We would then move on to livelier and busier pursuits/locations. We could not have picked better. For piece and quiet this place is heaven on earth.
Lo'Blolly beach is a totally unspoilt, thin but long white sandy beach. As we visited in the low season - we had the beach to ourselves.
There is a small coral cove, snorkeling is excellent and turtles swimming in the bay and pelcans diving for fish is a daily occurance. As for the beach as the sun sets - I never knew there were so many varieties and colours of crabs.
We really encountered unspolit nature - we were the intruders - even goats and cattle roamed free.
Lo'Blolly beach cottages consist of 3 wooden built cottages, yards from the beach front, painted in bright pastel colours. As the other two cottages were empty, we really did have total privacy and peace.
The cottages themselves, although they look basic from the outside, had air conditioning in the bedrooms, electricity and plumbing. The kitchen was basic but good enough to cook in. The living area was well equiped with seating, dining table and radio. Other essential complimentary provisions were torches, insect repellants (spray & candles) and a large drinking water dispensor (like the ones you see in Gyms and offices).
There was a pleasant and unexpected welcome of wine and beer in the fridge - not to mention the flowers for the wife.
Before we left on the trip, we had joked about this being our 'Robinson Crusoe' experience but it was far too comfortable for that. All the benefit without the discomfort.
The cottages are owned and hosted by Mr N. A lovely man who will go out of his way to help. Before we arrived, we thought we would fly from Tortola to Anegada. However the airline providing the service was closed down. Email exchanges with Mr N ensured we were always well informed and advised. He also shopped for our initial provisions which were waiting for us at the ferry as we departed to the Island.
A week was probably enough as we are city people and all the magazines and books had been read and we were probably taking the views for granted.
All in all, a fabulous choice for, peace and quiet, stunning views and interesting nature.
Mr N is an excellent host who deserves many visitors.
