“Beautiful beach, great bar”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

Second time to Loblolly. Love the beach, views and the bar is a classic. Rented mopeds this time and pavement goes all the way now, so was fun getting there.

“Paradise”

Great for snorkling and relaxing the day away, only problem was everyone else had the same idea was the only beach I found that was busy, good or bad you can decide!

“Relaxation perfected”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

It's about a 40-minute boat ride from Beef Island/Tortola, but to see the water and beach around the reef island of Anegada is worth the ride and the time. A quick cab ride down the narrow road ways leads to Loblolly Beach, with a bar and restaurant on site.

Sea grape trees provide a shady break between the bar/restaurant and the beach, and there are plenty of hammocks and covered seating areas. Want fresh lobster? In all likelihood, they caught it this morning. The attraction of the bar is more than the drinks. If you're armed with a piece of driftwood, the bartender will loan you a magnifying glass for you to burn your name or message into the wood, and then you can nail it to the bar for posterity.

In the water, the snorkeling is outstanding, and when we were there, it was absolutely not crowded.

If you need a place to lose yourself, you won't find many better.

“Paradise off the beaten path.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

We sailed to Anegada and took a cab to Loblolly for the day. The snorkeling is good but the views from the beach are spectacular. There are public showers available for a reasonable price and a modest restaurant and bar just yards from the beach. It was my second trip to Loblolly and very much worth the trip.

“Great views, fair snorkeling”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Yes, it's pretty famous and the biggest tourist stop on the island. But the REALLY good snorkeling id almost 1/4 mile off shore. The current can be strong and if you get anxious at all, you WON'T be comfortable going that far out. Farther in, I DID swim with a barracuda and a sting ray. Pretty cool on both. The inland reefs are just OK but my wife and I saw some really cool fish. The view of the bay is really incredible and worth the trip if you have never been. The Big Bamboo restaurant is fine but don't expect gourmet anything. Burger; fish, or chix tenders are all American style and just OK. The atmosphere is as laid back as it gets and if you can't unwind here, you need help. Ask the bartender for his magnifying glass and use it to focus the sun onto a piece of driftwood to burn your name and then tack it up on his bar. Then you're an alumni!!
