“Absolutely gorgeous sunset!”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

What a find this was! Beautiful setting right on the beach, open fire pits, lounges in the sand and fabulous food. Our party was a family gathering and the kids enjoyed it as much as the adults, but it would be just as wonderful for a romantic dinner. This is probably the best restaurant on the island!

“Love this place!”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

We saw a sign on the road for coco maya and read about it in the tourist mags. This is a sexy little beach place which comes alive at night. This was one of our best meals on the island. I have come to not expect much good food in the carribean, but every so often you really get a nice surprise. We had the black bean dip with veggie chips appetizer (amazing flavor) and the fish n chips with pea puree and a shrimp Cesar salad. The sweet pea puree was very interesting and "fusion" like to add to the dish, but didn't really complement the dish. The fries were crispy and the fried grouper was just OK. Its a large piece that they give you, but IMO, the grouper wasn't seasoned (at all or well) and lacked any kind of flavor. I also didn't think it was that fresh. My shrimp Cesar salad had nori croutons, well cooked and seasoned shrimp along with a wasabi-ceasar dressing. So inventive, so good. I would hang out here day and night time would be a fun night out with friends. Just one look at the view from the restaurant is enough to keep you here for hours. Service is fantastic.

“Excellent food and beautiful sunset”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

We went after seeing reviews and the food was great, great service and beautiful sunset. We were going to try a different place to eat each night so the next night we went to hog heaven. It was a horrible experience and we left without eating. So we went back to coco maya because it was so good. They were out of a few things on the menu because of the off season, but the food and atmosphere ended up being just as good as the night before. The bartender was great. They had a special drink called a coco mojito. We loved those and she said she made them up and gave us the recipe so we could make them off the island. Great experience both times!!!

“This is the real thing...ocean dining with the service and food quality to match”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

You have to go to this restaurant during the day to enjoy the view (sunset recommended) - but seeing it at night only would not do this restaurant justice.

We walked from the marina to CocoMaya - this was not a far walk, but not a safe walk without sidewalks, so taxi is recommended.

The service is the best service I have ever had on the islands - they truly are at the same or better service standard as in the states. This alone is almost impossible to find in the BVI.

The food was all great quality. We tried quite a bit - but what really stood out was: Edamami, Beef Tenderloin from the large tapas menu, and the cocomaya sushi. What was not that great was the swordfish ceviche (not a typical ceviche).

The BBC drink was awesome...even better than Peter's Island.

The dolce de leche cheesecake was so good. Texture a little like a mouse and cheesecake mix - but still really, really good flavor and texture.

I am not a fan of the tapas style dining - so I stuck with the sushi rolls and large tapas menu for more individualized portions. This is my preference - but up to you.

This is a little pricey - however, the view, service, and food is all worth a great night out.

To top the night off - Morgan Freedman was entering the restaurant to dine...goes to show you this is a place even the 'stars' dont miss.

“Terrific meal”
Reviewed December 21, 2013

Dinner at CocoMaya is a delicious adventure for the taste buds. The extensive menu offerings-tapas and sushi-are a creative mix of flavors and presentation. We ate there twice on our recent visit to Virgin Gorda and the food was excellent both times. The open air setting, right on the beach, is casual yet elegant. Our only issue with CocoMaya was uneven service: the first night, which was very busy, service was top-notch; the second night the wait staff were pretty disorganized. Fortunately, the kitchen was in top form both nights. We would definitely eat there again.
