First you have to find Coco Maya which is on the waterfront and just down the road from the roundabout, but without a lighted sign it is not immediately visible. The location and ambience of this place is wonderful, as you are right on the beach in this open air bistro featuring a very contemporary decor resulting in a light and airy feel. Ethereal music along with fire pits and seating on the beach allow for a relaxing experience. This place features tapas, which we have enjoyed many times at other restaurants, but here we found the items we ordered to be either too spicy (and we like spicy food) or very average in quality. We did enjoy the tuna ceviche and the chicken satay but the fish cakes were very mediocre and the duck confit was too spicy. The bar features a "cojito" which is a mojito made with coconut juice which is enjoyable. While we would not return for dinner it is a very nice spot to enjoy and drink and relax after your busy day on the beach or on the water.

The first visit is a novelty. Second and subsequent visits are not so enticing. The menu is fair and the food is average. Fashionable spot on Virgin Gorda and likely to remain so.

Me and my fiance went CocoMaya when we visited the Virgin Gorda. We are both in our late 20s.

We read reviews that the place is expensive. Well the whole island is expensive when comparing it to anywhere else (In this case the United States). Pricing is a little on the higher side but you get what you pay for. My fiance had the Pad Thai, I had the teriyaki chicken, ending with desert. I had 4 beers, and she had 3 martini looking drinks. The bill was $109 with tip. We sat at the bar's swing which was different and fun. Our food was very good, and the bar tenders were attentive and friendly.

We went on a Friday around 7:30 pm in early August (the island is pretty quite after June). We found many families enjoying dinner and the bar almost packed. The crowds started showing up around 10:30 pm and the bar area was packed.

As a guy I found the decor to this place to be awesome. You'll see what I mean when you visit.

Over all this place is a place to visit on Friday or Saturday night. Keep in mind that each restaurant on the island has their "special day". Make sure to coordinate with those days to find a good/ fun crowd. If you can't figure it out, just ask a local!

Also, no need for formal dress attire here. Some shorts, sandals and a button down shirt will be more than enough !

Love the food, our server was great, atmosphere was romance for a couple or spicy for friends. The cheesecake was to die for! Must do on list.
