“Wonderful... best place to stay”
Reviewed October 10, 2009

We had the best time here! The service was unbeatable, you never saw a single maid but the room was cleaned, new linens brought in and on some days the towels were folded into animal shapes! The cabana is equiped with a full size fridge, a gas oven and cooktop, coffee pot and microwave. There is also a grill outside. we used the commissary to cook some meals which was the best deal on the island. The owner set up car rental service for us and answered all questions we had quickly. The beach on the grounds is picture perfect. The entire experience was wonderful and the only con was that we had to leave!! We stayed in the guavaberry cabana which had wonderful views of the ocean. We cannot wait to go back ot this piece of paradise!

We stayed here on our honeymoon... It was exactly what we expected and wanted... They put us in the "Guavaberry" room at the top of the hill... Awesome view with fantastic sunsets ever night...
Very simple, private room with a small kitchen. We made breakfast every morning with food bought from their store (very reasonable prices, even some great deals on some of the wine) and made our way to the pirate beach every moring to catch some rays, sorkel, and attemot to create our own Corona commercial... We went to 90% or the beaches on the island, Sring Bay is the best... We snorkeled over to the baths and took a nice walk on the beach (leaveing all of our belongings for 2 hours, with no issues... Very safe Island)...
One drawback was the AC... its was a little weak but it worked, only really cooled the "beedroom" and not the kitchen area...
No TVs, which nice for our honeymoon... I did bring my laptop for the itunes library to help pass some time...
This was our first stop on on honeymoon and we both agreed we should have stayed longer and plan to return sometime soon!!!

My only complaint about the Guavaberry is that we did not stay long enough!! My experience starts back earlier this year when we were planning our trip. Tina, the owner and manager, was so amazingly helpful with information and answered my e-mails very quickly and was sooo helpfull. We were flying into Beef Island and then taking the ferry immediately to VG. she made our ferry reservations, car rental reservations. Ferry shuttle met us at the airport, Mahogany car rentals met us at the ferry dock.
When we arrived, she was so warm, friendly and welcoming. The unit itself was great - all units are separate so there is maximal privacy. We were there with our two boys so we had two rooms. Each room has its own A/C and bathroom and the kitchen/common area is in between so they are also good for two couples - maximal privacy. I love the fact that there is no TV or phone in the rooms. They provide clean beach towels each day (just throw your dirty ones in a box, take a clean one from the shelf), and each unit has its own cooler. The honor comissary has most food you could want, if not, town is a quick drive away. Her two dogs, Pearl and Soka are adorable and immediately stole our hearts. Tina herself is so friendly and gave us lots of good advice. It's not on the beach, but the terrace has an amazing view (we watched the sunset here everyday), and also has lounge chairs, great for relaxing. Baths/Devils Bay is 5 minutes away - great beach, great snorkeling, great for climbing around & exploring. We climbed Gorda Peak, went to Savannah Bay but visited the Baths also each day. There is also a bar/grill right on the beach in case you're thirsty/hungry. Since we were there on the off-season (summer), it wasn't that crowded. The only annoying part was that some of hte tour boats would bring their people to shore in dingys, even though there is a sign strictly prohibited that, and they would not watch out for us at all. However, they're gone by mid-afternoon.
But, the best thing about Virgin Gorda is the people. They are so nice, so friendly, so helpfull and honest and relaxed. Such a pleasant change from our hectic lives here.
Loved Mahogany car rentals. They met us at the ferry dock, we signed the papers there, drove off. To return the car, we simply parked it again at the ferry docks. They even offered to pay us for the extra gas in teh tank (they gave it to us with 1/4 tank, we returned it with 1/2 tank).

Stayed at Guavaberry for a week with my wife. We rented a one bedroom house. The house is well equiped for preparing and eating meals. It has a large covered deck with a great view of the ocean.

Our cottage was located a 10 minute walk from the beach. (our house was the farthest from the beach). The houses were built in the 70's and 80's. They have been perfectly maintained and every detail seems to be managed. For example-no mold spots in the bath area-hard to do in that humidity. The housecleaning is excellent and detailed. No 10 second walk through cleaning here.

The location is great The beach is adjacent to the Baths. Look up the Bath's, VG on You Tube. We snorkled and swam (floated) for hours each day. There doesn't seem to be any undertow. It feels really safe. The quantity and quality of underwater sea life is be best I've seen.

Comissary and rec room with TV and Books are next to the office. There is a great selection of food and drinks. There were no fresh fruits or vegitables (except cucumbers) available when were there, so you may wish to pick some up on the way in.

Transportation to the Guavaberry was easy. Ferries are available from Road Town and Beef Island. Check with the staff at the Guavaberry for the schedule. They give excellent guidance.

We had a great time there and will stay at the Guavaberry when we return to Virgin Gorda. It is interesting to note that several of the guests we talked to have been there several times (more than 10) They told us of friends who have been there 30 times. The place is organized and minds the details. You have a great sense of privacy and quiet. The location is great and the snorkling is excellent.

We stayed here 2 summers ago and absolutely loved it! It is just a short walk to the beach and you can easily snorkel or walk to The Baths. We loved that each little villa has its own boulder to climb on and the views from our boulder were amazing! This place is just sooo unique... it has been one of my favorite places I have stayed. We were only there for a few nights, but we were picked up at the ferry dock and driven to our villa. The woman who runs it (can't remember her name) was very friendly and accomadating. She showed us the commisery and the tv/game room and where to find the keys to both. I loved that we could go to the commisery anytime, pick up a few groceries, and just write down what we got... was charged at the end of the trip based on what we wrote down. Not many places left that would trust people enough to do this. Definitely recommend staying here!

This is way overdue, but I felt I owed this to the managment of Guavaberry. My wife and I spent our honeymoon in October of 2007 in the islands, split between 3 days at Guavaberry and 4 at Caneel Bay. One of my favorite motos is, "you get what you pay for", so needless to say, I had some concerns about Guavaberry. This was not the case at all at Guavaberry. We stayed in a single room house and it was amazing. The pros of this place:
1) Great Value, spent most of the vacation patting myself on the back for making such a good decision.
2) Cleanliness, I'm a germ freak and although the floral comforter threw me for a loop on the pictures, this place was immaculate.
3) The private beach is the best on the island, you have to go to the baths to check it out, but you got the same thing here and less crowded and better views.
4) The store on the honor system is just like having your refrigerator stocked up at home.
5) Their recommendations, I rented from mahogany rentals and they were great. Found me off the fairy and let me follow them to Guavaberry.

The only downfall is that I'm obsessed with going back. To me, there wouldn't have been a fall off in quality or expectations if we had gone to Caneel first. Great place.

We loved every minute at Guavaberry. Simple, yet comfortable cottage. King bed, kitchen, deck and stupendous view from our private "rock" lookout. Excellent service. Convenient food mart on site. Lovely beaches and great snorkeling. This is one of the few hotels we would return to in a flash.
