So much potential

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 3, 2004
This resort is on one of the most beautiful bays my wife and I have ever seen. amazing. The beach is wonderful, the snorkeling great and the area was very uncrowded (nearly deserted) while we were there (right after new years). What was very nice was getting a car with the room. It was nice be be mobile on the island and we were able to explore every nook and cranny. Virgin Gorda is our favorite island by far.

Unfortunately there were a couple of small things that took away from the experience:

The first being mosquitos. Our room was at the back of the resort toward the hills and there were an unbelievable amount of mosquitos. This wouldn't have been too much of a problem if the screens on our room weren't falling out and full of holes. This let any mosquito that had the interest enter our room and bite our faces and arms through the night. After asking the management to fix this problem over several days, they sprayed a near lethal dose of mosquito and ant killer in our room, eventually using aluminum duct tape to seal the holes, which worked, but looked terrible.

The second problem was taking their kayak out to the reef and having it nearly sink a quarter mile off shore. It had a poorly made patch on the bottom of the kayak come loose which quickly started to sink us.

Overall, the rooms were clean and the place has sooo much potential, that is was really a shame that a couple easily remedied problems had quite a negative impact on our experience. My wife and I counted over 100 bites!!!

That being said, we never had a problem with mosquitos when we were near the water, so the beach front rooms would have possibly provided a better experience overall.
