My wife & I honeymooned here and absolutely loved it. The amenities are great and the locale is perfect. We promised ourselves to get back before our 10yr anniversary. Its a bit pricey but worth every dime.

You cannot certainly say that this is a bad place to visit, but for its price we think you can find plenty of better 5 star hotels in the caribbean and elsewhere in the world.
Our room was with ocean view: nice position, well refurbished but with an impressively noisy air conditioning (forget to use it at night unless you use ear plugs) and a layout which reminds you immediately how old the resort is.
The beach is nice (not one of the best of the Caribean though), but do not expect somebody tol prepare your beach chair.
We have appreciated very much the complimentary shuttle service to the other beaches of the island: we used it several times and it was always very good, even if nobody helps you to carry and open your umbrella when you are dropped to your beach.
The pavillon restaurant and bar looks very dark and tired: overall it was very depressing having an aperitive at night!
The windmill restaurant is remarcable: very good food and service.
The beach grill restaurant is in a very good position, but looks tired.
We have been in many places, staying in many hotels: we think that this place is not worth the money they ask for it.

My husband and I spent seven nights at Little Dix for our honeymoon in June. We are both well-traveled and self-professed "foodies," so we had some pretty high standards for where we would spend our honeymoon together. We did a great deal of research before cooking our trip because we wanted something that offered a wide variety of activities and dining options. We weren't too concerned about the night life of our destination, but rather that there would be lots of things to see and do during the day, and lots of great places to eat. In short, we are both pretty adventurous and while laying on the beach for 7 days straight may appeal to some people, we were afraid we would get a bit bored if that was all we did. We knew that we didn't want to speand the week on a resort "compound" (even if it were an all-inclusive compound) because we wanted to really explore the culture of a part of the world we had never seen.

We settled on Little Dix Bay after reading about how clean and safe the entire island of Virgin Gorda is, and how many activities (many of the them free) the resort itself offers on a daily basis. We felt that we would be able to explore the island as well as get to do lots of snorkeling, sailing and of course, relaxing.

We were beyond THRILLED with our choice! I'm shocked when I read reviews by people who complain about the quality of the service or the rooms or anything else because our experience was so wonderful. We were picked up from the airport and taken directly to a ferry for the trip over to Virgin Gorda. Having the check-in process take place while on the ride over was so convenient! Everyone is served unlimited complimentary rum punch cocktails during the ferry ride and my husband and I received a special "perk" as well; our travel agent had informed Little Dix that we were on our honeymoon so we were told when we checked in that we were automatically being upgraded to an ocean-front cottage for no additional charge. It is my understanding that they try to do this for all honeymooning couples (as space allows), so definitely make them aware of the fact if you are indeed on your honeymoom.

We were beyond impressed by the congeniality and overall friendliness of everyone at the resort. Literally, every single staff member we passed by during our entire stay greeted us with a smile and a a polite "hello." Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and we were made to feel that no request was too much effort for the staff to meet. We ate several meals at the Sugar Mill and found the service to be absolutely fine there at well. Maybe a tiny bit slower than what we're used to here in the States but hey, you're in the islands! Relax. Their pace has to do more with a laid-back culture than anything else.

Our room was well appointed and kept immacculate during our entire stay. Room service comes several times throughout the day to sweep and tidy up, as well as deliver fresh ice, so our room always felt very clean to us. I don't know what others expect from a resort of the level but I didn't find our accomodations to be the least bit lacking. True, the rooms lack the plush, over-the-top oppulence that some resorts may offer, but they are instead what I would describe as "simply elegant" which for us at least, was perfect.

The only quasi-complaint I could possibly make about this place (and even this isn't truly a complaint) is that the food in the Sugar Mill is a bit pricy for what it is. True, all of the food on the island is expensive and we never had a bad meal at this restaurant, but I did walk away a couple times feeling like I could have gotten the exact same meal back in the States for way less money. My best advice, especially if you're like us and really want to experience the local "flavor" is to venture outside of the resort for at least a few of your meals. The breakfast buffet at the Sugar Mill is a great start to the day, but we ended up eating dinner outside of the resort most nights. It was slightly cheaper and definitely gave us the chance to get a little more variety and sample some local cuisine.

We (unfortunately) did not visit the spa while we were there, but we heard nothing but rave reviews about it. The water sports the resort offers are all free and very convenient, as is the water taxi service. Definitely make it point to explore the Baths while you're there, as well as some of the other beaches on the island. We had a water taxi drop us off at Savannah Bay one morning and it was incredible. We literally had an entire beach all to ourselves for most of the day.

All in all, we could not have asked for a better place to spend our honeymoon. As far as we are concerned it was perfect, and we're already talking about how much we miss it and want to go back!

LDB has a terrific location with beautiful views of the Caribbean. Our oceanview room was relatively updated and clean. Thankfully the staff made an attempt to put couples on one side of the resort and families with small children on another side -- but unsupervised children were unavoidable at the pool or beach areas often making for noisy rest. While the grounds are naturally landscaped, they are not especially maintained. Beach lounge chairs and tables are not kept clean, leaving maintenance and cleaning of frequent bird droppings to the guests. What surfaced as a surprising disappointment was the lack of quality service. Ordering a meal became a painful experience with staff generally not knowledgeable about the menu and/or appearing visibly annoyed to conduct anything beyond the simplest of service tasks. One day after ordering a cappuccino, the waiter looked as it we had just asked him to drop to the floor and give us 50 push-ups. The result was a less than pleasant experience during what should have been a relaxing, enjoyable vacation. LDB is definitely not up to par with other resorts in this same category.

Truly LDB has a nice location, nice rooms and very good service - however, this hotel is totally overpriced and not worth the money. There much better places in the Caribbean and even better ones if you look at the Maledives, etc.
