I spent my honeymoon at LDB and I'm sure it was the best place we could have gone to...

It was absolutely marvellous!!! I've read some reviews about it before we went there and when I was there I just couldn't imagine what I could complain of...

Rooms were so confortable and clean, with great views and so near to the beach, the staff was so pleasent. They were always there for you, with a great smile, they actually enjoy being there and they show it! They do everything they can (and they can't) to please you! And the food is delicious!!! Try dinner at Sugar Mill... it is so romantic...
The beach is great, we were almost alone most of the time. We did a lot of snorkelling in the LDB beach and in other beaches (the resort provides snorkelling tours to other beaches or drops you off and then come to get you at a predetermined time) and the sea is absolutely amazing!

We wish we can go back there soon, because we really loved it!!! It is expensive, but I think it is worth every penny!!! And that lobster... hummm... delicious!!!

Just came back last night from our honeymoon at Little Dix and are already trying to figure out how we can go back. Yes it's expensive but it's worth everypenny.

We stayed in an oceanfront room. These are the "Base" rooms but ours was wonderful. It wasn't modern but was well appointed, extremely clean and completely functional. The room had a king size bed, two comfy chairs, a refrigerator and plenty of closet space. The bathroom had a double sink, toilet and shower only (no bath). There was also a spacious patio with two lounge chairs, a table and a rack for drying bathing suits.

Our room was only 27 (yes i counted!) steps from the beach and nestled among the lush landscaping including palm trees and sea grapes. I don't think any of the rooms are that far from the beach except maybe some of the villas.

The food was very good, although not great. Make sure you get the meal plan if you plan on eating at the resort it saves you roughly $50/person/day. The meal plan has no restrictions for dinner so you can order anything you like. We had Kobe steak one night and Lobster on another night. The lobster was so big I couldn't finish it (a first for me!) Breakfast was a large buffett with a chef on hand for waffles, egg dishes, etc.

While the beach and grounds are truly wonderful make sure you take advantage of the beach drops and other complimentary activities offered at the resort. We didn't do the beach drops (the resort shuttles you to a beach of your choice in a Boston Whaler and than picks you up at a predetermined time) but did do the water skiing once. Next time we'll do the beach drops.

The only two things that took away from the resort at all was the sub-par fitness center and the kids on the beach. They REALLY need to set aside a portion of the 1/2 mile beach for families so you're not sitting under your bahio trying to relax but instead hearing the yells (albeit happy yells) of kids. Little Dix's sister resort Caneel Bay has several adult only beaches and they should follow suit.

If your into hiking, you should do the hikes on the property. Moderate effort for very rewarding views.

We just spent 2 weeks at Little Dix for our honeymoon. As for other reviews, some of them I am surprised by. We had everything we needed and more...
Servive-98% of the time, service was fantastic. We had everythig we needed at all times. Our room was cleaned 2-3 times a day, if we left our ice bucket outside, within 1/2 an hour it was filled, towels were refreshed twice a day, etc. The only issue with service we had was a billing issue-as part of our plan, the breakfast buffet was included. We kept getting charged for it. The staff told us just to keep getting charged and it would all be taken care of in the end. With some hesitancy, we signed each morning for breakfast. On our last day, we received our statement, and true to their word, each charge had been taken off. Regarding service though, I will say, as with anyplace, a "thank you" and a smile goes a LONG way...we noticed many guests who were just flat out rude to staff...not saying thank you as glasses were filled, blowing off staff rudely, etc. Personally, I don't care if I am paying a lot of money for a vacation, I still appreciate the work that the staff does to make my stay better...every person we encoutered was VERY pleasant with us, but we were also pleasant with them.
As for the manager, he actually went out of his way on a couple of occassions to speak with us about our visit, we found him very nice, although somewhat shy, which may have been misinterpreted by the prior reviewer.
Food-Although we ate at several locations on the island during our stay, our absolute FAVORITE meal was our first meal at LDB! We talked about it for a week after! Breakfast had a GREAT layout...wish I had that everyday!
Room-I was a little nervous about the room based on what I had read...we were pleasantly surprised when we were brought to our room. We had a premium room, with a gorgeous view of the palms, the mountains and the water. Beautiful stone wall on one side and two glass walls surrounding so we had a full view all the time. The room was one of the ones which the bathroom had recently been renovated. No bath, but we REALLY didn't miss it at all. The shower was a huge walk in, with all new tiling, very peaceful. Macaroons, champagne, rum and a dish of fruit was set out for us. I agree it isn't like the Ritz, but it is a different sort of place. No one goes there looking for Ritz accomodations and to expect that is ridiculus. Nothing about the website would represent that the rooms are like the Ritz...the rooms are instead peaceful, calming Caribbean style rooms with gorgeous views. It is much more fitting to the environment and much more peaceful.
The beach drops were great...highly recommend Spring Bay and Devils Bay. Mountain Trunk was great for snorkling. HIGHLY recommend the Baths...they were awesome to walk through!

My wife and I have visited many of the so-called luxury resorts all over the caribbean ... many of which have/are recommended by The Hideaway Report ... which, 80% of the time, is reasonably accurate in its review. However, as it concerns LDB, we've stayed at nicer Ritz Carltons in center cities. Granted, the setting is world-class ... but, after that, LDB is significantly overrated. Generally speaking, we've found it's relatively easy to find a resort with a great, "natural" location ... the trick is finding a resort which can offer a facility and service to compliment nature's beauty. LDB misses the mark, far and wide. To start, the baths are a joke ... very, very small and dated. Other room features are OK, but you've probably stayed in a Hyatt or Marriott that is far superior. The staff, for the most, is cordial and accommodating ... but there are just enough "old-timers" around to cloud general satisfaction ... in that they clearly don't understand the importance of having pride in what they do. The food was average, at best ... with breakfast, however, being most pleasing. The physical fitness facilities, graded on a 1 to 10 scale, might be a 2 ... small room, old equipment, dirty, poorly lighted, no water, no towels, etc. The common areas are "tired", musty, dark, and not at all appealing. As for the general manager, we observed many occasions when he "looked through" a guest ... and it was apparent his self-importance trumps all. Dutch fellow, I believe ... for whatever that's worth. We submitted comments to the Rosewood (management) people concerning all the above ... who, initially, said they'd be in touch ... but, they haven't ... which, isn't surprising ... big organization, very impersonal, perhaps saddled with too much success to care about an occasional negative view. We didn't have a great desire to talk to them, anyway ... but thought there might be some level of interest in receiving constructive feedback. Whatever, if you've never been anywhere, you might be very happy with LDB ... but, if you're an experienced caribbean traveler who'll pay top-dollar for the best, LDB's not for you.

My husband and I spent a week at Little Dix Bay (6/26-7/3) and enjoyed every minute of the peace, tranquility, gorgeous scenery, beautiful weather, warm temperatures, hospitality, etc. that the resort had to offer. We had the Romance Package, which certainly saved us some money, due to the cost of the food at the resort and excursions. Our package included three meals/day (it is a wise choice to get the full meal plan if you are not on a package), a day sail, sunset cocktail cruise, the Spring Bay picnic, and a couples massage. The Spring Bay Picnic is a definite must (it was one of our best days), the cocktail cruise was beautiful, and the couples massage was extremely relaxing (the spa is gorgeous!!!). I'd love to do all three over again! The day sail started off well, but then we hit some rough seas due to an approaching rain storm. Needless to say, it was a bit rocky on the sail boat, but still a fun experience!

In addition to the activities mentioned above, we also took advantage of the great snorkeling. There is a large reef at the resort, which is home to sting rays, grouper, sea turtles, a "friendly" barracuda, small "friendly" sharks (3ft.), and an array of other fish. We snorkeled every day at the resort and also took water taxis to nearby bays to check out the snorkeling in other areas too.

We also enjoyed some of the hiking trails that are located on the resort. We hiked the Savannah Bay trail which overlooks Pond Bay and hiked Cow Hill to watch a beautiful sunset one night.

A day trip to The Baths is a definite must! We were there late morning to early afternoon, which was perfect because it wasn't too crowded at that time. It gets pretty busy after lunch time!! We left our digital camera behind due to the crawling, climbing, and wading that is required and brought along an underwater camera. We got great shots of the enormous boulders and amazing sea life.

Little Dix was absolutely gorgeous! The pictures online accurately portray the resort. It is a very lush location, with lots of flowers, shrubs, trees, etc.

The service was fantastic! Every employee of the resort was friendly and helpful. The wait staff was very attentive, our rooms were meticulously cleaned every day, ice was delivered 2 times/day, and the room was picked up a little bit during the turn down service as well. The pace is a bit slower on the island and everything and everyone tends to be on "island time". This was exactly what we were looking forward to though, since the point of our vacation was to get away from the "hustle and bustle" of the city!

We were upgraded upon arrival to a premium ocean view room, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the privacy of our own balcony every day, which had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean which were literally steps away. The room was large, had a walk-in closet, an extremely comfortable king size bed, and an a/c. We slept so well the entire duration of our stay!

Little Dix was amazing and we hope to return sometime in the future!!!

We spent 7 days at Little Dix Bay for our Honeymoon and loved it! Luckily we did not experience any negative service issues as some of the other postings below - we actually thought the service and staff was very friendly and helpful! One minor issue we did experience was with housekeeping, they sometimes don't clean your room twice daily as mentioned, but it wasn't such a big deal when you are surrounded by such a lovely atmosphere as in Little Dix.

If you are expecting the Ritz or Four Seasons - this isn't the place for you. We stayed in a Junior Suite and the room was very elegant, but yet mimimal in terms of amenties. However, if you are looking for a unique, elegant and romatic Caribbean location, this is the place to go! My husband and I have been to most of the Carribean and we hands down found this to be the best spot we have stayed thus far.

We spent a week at Little Dix and it is truley a piece of heaven on Earth! This is a place to go to really get away from it all....no cell phones, no TV, no noise, no crowds. The scenery is unbelievable, the water is crystal clear, the beach is peaceful, pristine. The grounds are full of really interesting plants, flowering trees and bushes, and lots of wildlife. We had a bird nest in one of the rafters outside our room, it was great watching the mom and dad coming to feed their babies during the day. Lots of chickens roaming around and great lizards too!
Our room was very nice..we stayed in the older part of the resort. They are renovating all the rooms and ours was not one of those. It was still very comfortable, very clean, the bed was super comfy.......we slept like babies every night.
The food was awesome. The lobster at dinner one night was 6 pounds! No kidding. Beverage prices are really high. Your best bet is to go to Spanish Town to buy soft drinks, beer, whatever. There is a small fridge in the room.
The sunset cruise was really great, diving was spectacular, and we did a snorkle trip to the caves.....awesome. We also did a beach drop, again it was incredibly beautiful and perfect. They provide snorkeling gear, we used ours a lot. You can snorkel right off the beach at Little Dix, there are 2 sea turtles that are around every day, be sure to look for them.
If you really need technology there is a big tv in an open air pavillion with really great comfortable couches and chairs. They also have a little room with two computers where you can check e mail etc. The computers are super slow.....kind of what your whole experience will be. Remember, you are on island time, things may not happen fast but you are in paradise. Enjoy every minute
