We stayed for our honeymoon in 1997 and our 15th anniversary in summer 2012. It has only gone from very outstanding to very very outstanding. The island and people are wonderful. Upon arrival the management knowing that this was a special trip for us upgraded our room and had champagne waiting for us. We have traveled all over the world for work and play and no experience matches Little Dix Bay. The staff are over the top nice and do a great job. Since our first trip they have added a well equipped gym that we used every day. They also added a spa over looking the bay. There is a nature trail that starts on the property that's a wonderful hike with spectacular views. The water activity folks are great, I can't say enough about how helpful they were. The woman that managed it spent time suggesting and arranging ways for us to have a good time. We will never ever forget the transportation guys. At other places they call them taxi drivers, you know, just folks driving you from here to there. Here, in this place, it's not like that. We made a real lasting friendship and at the same time learned all about Virgin Gorda and it's people. We tell all our friends and associates that if they are looking for a different Caribbean experience, something that they will never forget, they should go to Virgin Gorda and stay at Little Dix Bay.

Beautiful resort - can't beat it in almost every way but one - the food. A real bummer to be in such a great spot, and the nicer of the two restaurants for dinner - the Sugarmill Restaurant - basically serves the same menu every night with one or two variants on the dishes. The other restaurant is good for breakfast, but the dinner buffets are kind of resort cliche and almost worth skipping a meal for. Recommend some serious attention to food quality and variety by management to bring it up to the standard of the rest of the resort.

By the way, the setting for the spa is the most beautiful I have ever seen. Incredible.

I can not express how beautiful Little Dix is! The white sand beach is pristine coupled with crystal clear blue refreshingly warm & inviting ocean! Perfect for lounging on a float all day long! What else could you want? Beach service? Well, they have it. A smiling server is passing out fresh ice water & ready to take your order....delicious Rum Punch, Piña Coloda, lunch...you name it! Little Dix offers complimentary beach drop offs to various beaches on the island. My husband & I enjoyed a picnic lunch on a private beach with great snorkeling! We were the only people on the entire beach! The Beach Barbecue is a must! You are taken to a breath taking beach by the Baths. The property sets up umbrellas, bar & barbecues the lunch on the beach. There is live music & an even a limbo contest! The snorkeling is to die for! You can walk to the Baths....which, is the most beautiful place! I have been to the Baths 4 times & can never get tired of just taking in the breath taking beauty. The rooms are lovely & very spacious. The service was great! The Manager's Cocktail reception is out of this world! The champagne was flowing, as well as, anything you can ask for, including wonderful appetizers! Everywhere you look you will enjoy fragrant beautiful flowers. We celebrated our 12th Wedding anniversary while on our trip, the Manager sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne & a heart shaped chocolate cake! There is live nightly entertainment, which is nice to listen to, while enjoying a nightcap. The main gift shop is the best shopping on the island! The restaurants are good, especially the lobster! The spa is amazing! We enjoyed a wonderful couples massage! The view from the spa is outstanding! Be sure to get there at least 30 minutes prior to service to enjoy the spa's infinity pool. This resort is a very peaceful resort! There are always enough lounge chairs, no need to rush & save chairs! We met many honeymooners & many people who had been 5,10,12 & even 36 times! We travel a great deal, second time to Virgin Gorda & this my most favorite place in the Carribean vacation spot. Virgin Gorda is the most beautiful lush island in the Carribean! I highly recommend this resort to couples, especially celebrating a special occasion!

this is the 5th time we ve been there. New attractions since we wer last there were a beautiful spa and new fitness room. The spa overlooks the sea- pretty gorgeous. There is still a sense of peacefulness and calm- lounges on the beach are always available- you don t have to rush down in the morning to get a seat. Staff is excellent, as we would expect. We stayed in an oceanfront room- we were about 50 yards from the sea. The only problem is getting there- it requires a change of planes from the US mainland to Tortola- then a boat ride- over a sea that can be rough.
We were surprised by how many European guests were there. I guess they ve gotten the message that this place is wonderful

Room Tip: we actaully stayed away from the main dining area so we had to wlk to meals which helped us not gain...

Paradise! Fabulous snorkeling right off the beach. Those Roosevelt's knew how to pick the spots to build amazing get aways and help preserve these incredible spots for future generations. The food was terrific, live music most evenings and wonderful staff.

Room Tip: The free standing cabanas are the best.

Paradise!!! We stayed 6 nights in the 3 bedroom beach house. Truly the best vacation our family has ever had. The beach house is beautiful - meticulously maintained with beautiful ocean views. The personal concierge and entire staff are amazing - they love their work and it shows. Everyone has a smile on their face and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure each guest enjoys their time in paradise.
We can't wait to return to Little Dix Bay!!!!

Extremely relaxing resort. Never feels crowded, maybe a bit at dinner only. Calm lagoon-like bay with options to paddle board, kayak, catamaran, or dream. Perfect views and weather everyday. Of course renting luxury in the middle of nowhere has a price tag; it is an investment to get there, stay there, and eat there. Fitness center is reasonably updated and didn't have to wait on machines. Tennis courts are either a turf or concrete surface, only so-so and prone to winds. The spa was a series of huts and a small locker room, with a central pool featuring blockbuster vistas. Some of the older tree houses and beach units have not been touched for 20 years--ask ask about your room. We had a villa up on the hill which was exceptional. The pool is small and doesn't offer much, but some small tykes seem to like it anyway. It is heated to bath tub temperature, but there is no jacuzzi to be seen. Of course the beach is magnificent with plenty of sun and shade, comfortable and readily available chairs. Three restaurants: beach grill, Sugar Mill, & Pavilion. Pavilion offer buffets and music most nights; Sugar Mill is for ages 12 and older and the menu is focused on lobster and fish, a more adult price list; beach grill has fish, salads, sandwiches etc. We brought our wine to most dinners. Beach side service is very accommodating.
Management was visible and approachable. The front desk was accommodating. Staff frequently waved and said hello. Golf carts are actively driving folks around and they will frequently stop and ask you if you want a lift. One warning, internet access is extremely spotty. Don't plan to send emails, let alone execute complicated trades, in a timely manner. But perhaps you shouldn't be thinking about those things here.
I think there are always signs of wear and tear, and a certain laxity in service which comes with the territory. The Concierge service was a bit off in terms of continuity and request fulfillment, although the ladies are exceptionally nice, and with smiles, thank yous, and tips, everything seems to get done. Plus, there isn't that much to do, which is part of the pleasure. Nonetheless, nothing beats a comfortable weather proof Caribbean vacation when your house is frozen, and you will find many repeat visitors at LDB.

Room Tip: Ask about TV, phone, wi-fi, date of renovation. Don't assume that >$1000 night means sparkli...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive renovation and is scheduled to re-open in late 2017. The iconic Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive, multi-million dollar restoration, which will be the most substantial beautification project since the resort was founded by Laurance S. Rockefeller over 50 years ago. The restoration will include the complete redesign of the resort’s guestrooms and suites, its three restaurants and overall enhancements to the resort’s gardens and landscaping. New York City-based Meyer Davis Studio will lead the restoration, working alongside Miami-based architectural firm OBMI. Together these agencies will honor Laurance S. Rockefeller’s unique vision of a luxurious hideaway set amidst the pristine backdrop of Virgin Gorda. The renewal will bring about a new level of sophistication in keeping with the natural setting, whilst introducing brand new signature suites for the ultimate in relaxation and style. A rebuilt Beach Grill will offer a one-of-a-kind beach dining experience, while the iconic Pavilion and Sugar Mill buildings will remain intact but will feature extended indoor/outdoor dining areas. Guests will also enjoy an elevated arrival experience and the resort’s vibrant tropical gardens will be enhanced with new lighting, signage and improved access to Little Dix Bay beach. The renovation will also bring the addition of new restaurant concepts for The Pavilion, Beach Grill and Sugar Mill; new world-class amenities; elevated service standards and an increased focus on sustainability. Upon reopening towards the end of 2017, Rosewood Little Dix Bay will reaffirm its legacy as the Caribbean’s leading luxury resort. ... more   less
