We were there in January 2008. I believe it was a Monday night. Not their fault, there was no atmosphere (we were 4, the only ones in a 200-place restaurant, a slow night). But the lobster we had, while okay, was $60 a POUND. I am not sure where they get it, but I think this was a little overpriced. I really think that this place is overpriced.

On Friday 2 May 08, my husband and I attended the "Friday
All You Can Eat Beach BBQ and Pig Roast Live Reggae Band
Sky Dancers Mocko Jumbies Show".

Happy hour is supposedly from 5-7 (the bbq is $25 per person).

We showed up around 6:00 in order to take advantage of the happy hour (what else is a "happy hour" for, but to take advantage of?!).

The bbq is paid for at the head of the buffet tables (you get a wrist-band in return for $25/pp). The food was good & plentiful, the buffet staff very attentive - no complaints in that regard.

HOWEVER --> BEWARE the so-called happy hour because our server happily ripped us off considerably. We were told happy hour was half-off for beer & rum drinks including "Painkillers" and "Bushwackers". We started our meal around 6:30 and asked the waitress if wine was also on happy hour (1/2 off) and she checked wih the bartender and the answer was "yes", so we each ordered a glass of wine, which arrived at approx 6:50 - we asked the waitress to bring us each 1 more wine to make it under the happy hour wire - no problem! Our 2nd glass of wine each actually made it to our table at 7:10.

When the bill arrived, the only item at half-off was one beer. Everything else was closer to full price, in fact the wine that arrived at 7:10 was charged at full price ($7/glass) even though we ordered it at 6:50 - and the wine that was charged "happy hour" price was $7 x 2 = $14 - $4 (so $5/glass instead of $3.50). We questioned the server about this and told her it wasn't acceptable and we wanted it adjusted to reflect what (we felt) it should be. She came back ~ 15 mins later and said "sorry, mon" the bill was "in the system" and couldn't be adjusted. We were offered (and took) a "free" drink but in fact our bar bill was still much higher than it was advertised to be.

Perhaps the wait staff/management at Leverick Bay think that stupid tourists will be half in the bag and won't bother looking at their bills, but we seriously resented being so over-charged on liquor when we had also spent $25/pp for a buffet dinner. Sure, lots of patrons of Leverick Bay are apparently "made of money" (based on the boats at dock) but we are NOT - we are just a couple of working schmoes who work for a living and saved money for a vacation.

So, if you go --> enjoy the food but BEWARE inflated bar bills and surly bar staff.
