Atmosphere aside, I can find no reason to have a meal here. Sitting among the boulders is interesting but only for 10 minutes. As soon as the food arrives you will regret your decision to eat here. Try Island Pot, a local rib and chicken joint, just down the road. Nothing fancy but the ribs are great and the price is right.

I rarely write reviews, but I just couldn't in good conscience let another fellow traveller succumb to the horror that I experienced at Rock Cafe. Essentially I paid fancy NYC restaurant prices for food that tasted worse than what would come out of a Chef Boyardee can. The meatball appetizer at 20 dollars consisted of four putrid tasting miniscule pieces of mystery meat. On top of that the waitress who besides for providing sub par service asked tried fool us into tipping twice on our already ridiculously overpriced tab. Please stay away from this place. Levrick Bay restaurant, although also not perfect, would be a far better choice.

Given the fact that it is a given that food on an island is expensive, we still found this restaurant to be one of the least attractrive places on Virgin Gorda. It is marketed big time, but the food was certainly not , by any means, up to the price and you can do better at many of the other restaurants on the island. We never went back after our "free meal" that had to be supplemented to cover the bill for 2. In contrast, we often went back to Mine Shaft and also Chez Bamboo and The Baths Restaurant.

We had dinner at the Rock Cafe and felt that it was very overpriced for the quality of the food.
There were four of us and two had the lobster which was not fresh and was the worst we have had in the islands.
The pasta was ok, but lets face it, what can you do to ruin pasta? At these prices it should be more than ok.
we visit Virgin Gorda often and will NOT return to the Rock Cafe.

We had first been to The Rock in 2003 and had a good but not exceptional meal. At the time, the highlights of the venue were the pizza (the kids had a craving) and the outside tables nestled among Virgin Gorda's famous granite boulders. We returned in 2008 with fond memories and were blown away by the way the restaurant had improved. We ate inside due to rain in the area. The decor was sophisticated and the A/C was welcome but not bone-chilling. On Christmas Eve 2008, we had one of the best Italian meals we've ever had - anywhere. One member in our party said her gnocchi was outstanding. I tried to verify myself - but she'd eaten it all! The fresh fish was perfectly prepared. I had pasta with lobster chunks in a light tomato sauce that was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and presented. The restaurant has a good wine list and full bar. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Don't miss The Rock!
