“Best restaurant on the island!!”
Reviewed April 8, 2010

We loved Chez Bamboo. There were 8 people in our party and every one of us loved - not liked- our meals. The prices are no different than anything you'd find at a nice restaurant on the mainland, and I've payed alot more for a lot less in NYC! You're on an island and everyting needs to be shipped in, of course it's going to cost a little more, but for the food we got it was well worth it! My husband and I split a few different tapas dishes and apps and we loved every one of them! We could hardly finish our meals there was so much food and we are big eaters. We thought the service was really good. The bartender was quick and funny, and he made a hell of a drink! Try the caribbean cooler, it was like strawberry shortcake in a glass, with rum of course!

“You Need a Reservation”
Reviewed March 26, 2010

My husband called this restaurant to inquire on the hours they were open. It was about 7:00pm at night and we were about to head out to find a place to eat. He was asked if we had a reservation. He responded "No" and was told you must have a reservation. He than asked if he could make a reservation. When asked "what time", he replied "we will be there in 20 minutes, 'Fine", she said. When we arrived at the restaurant and announced that we had a reservation we were seated in a half full (half empty) restaurant. No one arrived to take the other half of the tables for the entire time we were there.
We each had margaritas which were delicious. My husband had a seafood soup which he liked. Unfortunately, we both ordered the bouillabaisse. It was a selection of fish in a clear broth. I wish we had ordered different dishes to compare. As a result, we did not return.
Overall, I was disappointed in the entree, especially considering the high price of dining here.

“The biggest problem in this island is...”
Reviewed January 18, 2010

The biggest problem in this island is that the restaurants have completely forgotten the value or money. I find it quiete obscene to ask a couple 200 dollars in a restaurant where the service is totally inadequate and the food is only accetapble. The restaurants are the biggest problem in this island that aside of a beautiful see doesn't have anything else.

“So nice we visited twice”
Reviewed January 17, 2010

We had no plans to repeat restaurants on our week long stay in VG, but Chez Bamboo changed our minds. We thought it was the best restaurant on VG, and we ate at Biras, Leverick, Top of the Baths, Bath & Turtle, Nail Bay and Little Dix Bay.
The menu had character, and lots of choices even for picky eaters. Everything we ate was perfectly cooked, from fish to soup to salad (fried goat cheese, yum) and pasta, and flavourful. Each dish has a unique spin on it, such as the 'grouper en papillote'. Grouper, surrounded by lobster, shrimp and scallops cooked in parchment. It was delish. Lobster Curry was fabulous. The staff was great, and while you're on 'ilon time' they were very attentive. I loved the kitchy decor, although I'd recommend not sitting right at the side of the road, as exhaust may get you. For the price, comparitive to others in the islands it was a great value. I'd say this is the best restaurant in VG by far, and not to toot a horn, I'm quite a foodie.

“excellent all around”
Reviewed January 13, 2010

this is a great spot to sit and chill and the sevice is wonderful. the second night we were there, lobster curry ( a most excellent dish) was not on the special menu. when we asked, there was an immediate "of course we can make that for you". and do not miss the cinnamon chocolate ice cream. Rose runs a fine establishment.
