“Sail Away!”
Reviewed July 7, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

This past February I returned from an absolutely exceptional vacation with my sweetheart and best friends. The six of us had the great pleasure of enjoying a week long charter aboard the 47 foot catamaran "Extasea”. A sailing vacation through the British Virgin Islands would expectedly be delightful but this experience FAR exceeded expectations. Our experience began with meeting our captain and crew, Mike and Lesley and the tone was quickly established. These two adventurers could not have been better hosts! Each was warm, friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, energetic, intelligent, and possessed of great senses of humor. They truly made the experience first rate from start to finish. The Extasea itself was very comfortable and each of the cabins were clean, neat, and well lit; just right for relaxing and gazing at stars through an open hatch. Mike and Lesley provided an excellent sailing itinerary but always solicited our input and made it clear that we had a say in where we might like to go. It quickly became very clear however that trusting in their judgment was wise and well rewarded. Each day afforded pleasant sails, ample swimming and incredible snorkeling/diving in crystal clear waters coupled with breathtaking secluded beaches, lovely hikes, endless scenery, and beautiful sunsets. That would typically be enough to garner rave reviews but it is only part of the story. Every day from the moment we arose we were all presented with incredible meals prepared by Lesley. The quality and variety of every offering from breakfast through dinner was without rival! The fact that Lesley was able to perform her art within the confines of a galley is further testament to her great skill. As for the portions, let me just say that none of us went to bed hungry! Evenings were usually spent enjoying each other's company aboard sharing memories and creating new ones as Mike and Lesley joined the fun. On those occasions when we went ashore, Mike and Lesley were always quick to recommend, and accurate about, local points of interest to investigate as well as pitfalls to avoid. Our welfare and enjoyment were ALWAYS their first consideration and we could not have been in better hands. One such recommendation was a visit to the "Soggy Dollar" the home of the "Painkiller". The visit was time well spent but the consensus among the group was that the original was no match for the cocktail of the same name as served on board by Mike. Of course this was substantiated by thorough research. All in all if you are looking for an enjoyable and relaxing escape affording opportunities to sail, swim, snorkel, dive, hike, bird-watch, explore, or just sit on your butt and take in the sun and air then this is the ticket. If you want to maximize the likelihood of that experience being top notch, then I highly recommend that you make your booking to be aboard the Extasea and trust yourself to the care and company of Mike and Lesley. You will NOT be disappointed!
