Owner description: Park that encompasses the wreck of the HMS Rhone, a mail ship that sunk during a hurricane in 1867, and Dead Chest Island, both great dive sites.

The Rhone is broken into a few sections. You should look at a diagram so you are familiar with each section before diving. Normally this is an easy dive but sometimes there are currents. You should have someone at the surface with a 'chase boat' to play safe. A lot to see. A lot of marine life.

I have done a two tank dive at the Rhone National Marine Park numerous times and each experience has been different. Probably my most exciting one was seeing a Goliath Grouper in the stern of the boat.My least exciting was a night dive where basically all I saw was a Red Snapper who would not leave us alone. I have gone with dive companies and taken a number of divers there as a lead diver from our own boat. The two dives are stunning with a lot of variety. The deeper bow allows for entrance into the bones of the boat, where you can find huge Angel fish. The shallower stern has a ton of features: a swim through at the propeller and the boiler; a brass porthole to rub for luck; most of the time a very large lobster, crab and porcupine fish; most of the time a turtle or two. You do have to be aware that the strength of the current can vary considerably, so have a good pair of fins and stay low and close to the wreck when circumnavigating to avoid battling the current on one side and taking a screaming ride on the other. Get there early if diving from your own boat. There is a great buoy that is right next to both parts of the wreck and makes them easy to find. This site is a diver's delight and can be experienced mutliple times and never get old.

This is a great dive, the water is sooo clear. Once we came up we could watch a diver group below us in exceptional detail 60-70' below. It is a relaxing and fairly easy wreck to dive with lots to see, made more poignant by the fact it is a real wreck where many lost their lives. A camera is definitely recommended. We left from Cooper Island and the set up was comfortingly professional.

We dove and others in our group snorkeled. You can do both right from the goat or take dinghy to mooring ball. Clear, lots of fish and soft corals. Lovely spot. Can be a bit rolls on boat but we were there on a relatively calm day.

Went on a night dive from Braveheart Charters! Saw 30 to 40 lobsters - some huge! Saw 3 turtles of which 2 were huge. Capt Jerry said +/- 400 lbs. Lots of amazing colors at night.
