Owner description: Anegada or the "drowned island" is completely surrounded by shallow reefs, and has become the focal point of underwater diving due to the many historic shipwrecks that litter the island's underwater depths.

Worth the boat ride for the amazing Lobster. Caught daily, grilled on an open fired, and absolutely delicious. Beaches are beautiful.

Loved the Island, pristine beaches surrounded by coral, you can literally walk around the whole island on the beach. Lovely beach bars, totally awesome local folks and the best lobster on the Islansd

We had a wonderful time on Anegada Island in the BVI. The beaches are beautiful and uncrowded. We had a great whole lobster lunch(fresh caught). The water was perfect for swimming and snorkeling. We visited from St John in the USVI. The only thing wrong was our transportatiion getting to Anegada was a charter which runs from St Thomas and St John USVI once a month. The boat was a typical island ferry - nothing fancy but serviceable. HOWEVER, the crowd on the boat was absolutely horrible. We left St John at 8:00A.M. with a larged boatload(30)drunken college age and yound adult(20s30s). They started drinking before they arrived at the dock and continued the entire trip (2 hours). As the trip wore on, they got louder and louder(hearing is the first sense to go when you are drunk). By the time we reached the island, I could hardly wait to get off the boat. I figured we could go to hte beach and avoid the others. However, we encountered some of them at the same beach we visited. They had driven rental cars and scooters to the beach! When we were ready to leave, I hoped that the trip back would be quieter but if anything, it was louder with plenty of use of the F word. Needless to say, We would love to go back to Anegada but if that's is the only way to get there from St John we won't be going any time soon. No one seemed to be in change of the boat and quickly let things get out of hand. I felt sorry for the families with young children who were on the boat with us.

“Pink flamingo's and lovely beaches!”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Sailed over to Anegada for a couple of days, the channel in can be a bit hair raising for anyone drawing over 6 ft but well worth the effort. Ate ashore and had a great table in the sand at a lobster place where the staff were amazing and so friendly. We found all the locals we met to be the friendliest in our many Island Caribbean trip. They advised us on what time, and where to go to see the Flamingo's the next morning on the lake. We hired scooters for 2hours for $15 to see the Island and found this to be enough time to look at many beaches and see the small township. Just wish we had more time to spend here.
