Pusser's store located on the main road in Road Town used to have varieties of rum available for tasting. After a long hike from the ship, we were disappointed to learn that tasting was no longer offered. Their rum is good, if you're used to strong rum!
The store has many Pusser souvenirs with pirate themes and the Pusser logo. A little pricey for a T shirt or hat, but worth it to say, "I've been there!"
The bar/restaurant seems to attract quite a few people.
The Caribee HerbShoppe is also pricey for spices, but worth the visit for the marvelous odors! Buying spices stateside is cheaper, but not nearly as much fun. Remember, the $$$ is in trouble right now, you'll be paying for souvenirs on their exchange rate making items even more expensive.
The open air bus tour is a "trip" more ways than one. I personally loved the bumpy ride, but others didn't. If you're lucky enough to get a knowlegeable AND fun driver, the trip is worth the $15 to $25 per person...depending on the ships in port. Previously, Tortolla only allowed two ships a couple of times a week. Don't know what their rules are now. We were in port with a GIANT ship that dumped a couple thousand people in port. Getting a tour was NOT easy unless you'd booked a ship excursion. As a previous day tripper, I hadn't planned ahead for a tour. I was off the ship late and the early tours were just returning. We were lucky enough to get a ride on the open air bus. It was a little different from my first tour, but still fun. I highly recommend the tour for first time visitors. It gives a terrific overview of the island and views of other islands from the overlook at the high point of the island. The restroom at the overlook was marginal...a hint!
