“Happy with our Stay at Fort Burt”
Reviewed June 30, 2006

We stayed at Fort Burt in a pool suite in May 2006. The private pool was great. It was big and overlooked Road Town Harbor. The room was modest, but probably comparable or better than other Road Town Hotels. I have not stayed at other Road Town Hotels, but just from my on-line research. The bathroom looked to be recently refurbished with great water pressure. Little details in the room that made it seem motel-style were: drapes that did not fully fit windows, bathmats for bedside rugs, coffee-maker yet no mugs, light showing through frame of door. Despite these little things, I would return if I were in Road Town.

The staff at the front dest were probably the friendliest that I encountered in all of the BVI. They arranged for our morning taxi, a wake-up call (I think their system is on "island time" because we got the call, but it was 20 minutes late), restaurant reservations, and allowed us an early check-in. The grounds were unique with the Fort architecture. The restaurant was great! The food and service were fabulous.

We were 3 couples staying at Fort Burt before chartering a cat at BVI Yacht Charters. We loved the relaxed atmosphere, the beautiful location, the excellent food and the friendliness of the staff.
Their were very helpful also when a unusually strong rainstorm flooded the city in the morning, lending us their own umbrellas, calling a cab when it was over.
We would definitely stay there again

I loved this quaint yet elegant hotel. The use of a fort to provide the best vistas of Road Town, F. Drake Channel and the south islands goes back to navy and pirate strategies of protection from all angles. I love that view! Choose to return after our sailing trip and the both nights were great. The Cooking School is a great idea. I'm always up for creative fare. Am planning a night there this year too. Not sure if it is a Total Vacation hotel but for the sailor and a pre/post trip, it is my pick.

Stayed here before catching a flight home to the UK so it served a function but was not somewhere that I would choose to spend a prolonged amount of time.

When you arrive (make sure you get the taxi to take you right up the huge hill) your bags are driven to your room by a grumpy man in a car with a smashed in back window. He became much less grumpy when I gave him a tip though!

The room was clean and pleasant enough with a nice view. Our friends stayed there a week before and had a first floor room which was much much nicer than ours which was on the ground floor.

We went to the bar at cocktail hour for a drink but the barman didn't know how to make any cocktails. He seemed to improvise ok though.

The food at Fort Burt is what you go for, not a very varied menu but the food is great and beautifully presented.

Overall, not great for a long stay, but ok if you want a nice meal and a reasonable room.

It's cheap, we paid $99, but it's a terrible hotel by any measure. In a state of disrepair, unclean and indifferent. Be prepared to climb a bunch of stairs whenever you go. Thank goodness we only had to sleep there, but our 10 hours felt a lot longer.

We stayed at the Ft. Burt Hotel in March, 2004 after a Moorings bareboat charter. Our room was immaculate and had a great view. We paid about $100/night. When we wanted lunch in the restaurant, they had a buffet only. When the staff found that we just wanted sandwiches, they happily provided these at a reasonable price. The price one pays for the views at this hotel is having to climb stairs. I counted 56 to our room, but the value, view, and friendliness was worth it. We'd definitely stay there again.

My boyfriend and I went to Tortola for New Years and loved staying at Fort Burt. It was a really cute "boutique" hotel. It was clean, the staff was very accomodating. We were unable to try the restaurant, as it was being remodeled. We actually didn't mind because we were there to see and visit Road Town and the tour the island. Fort Burt is close enough to town to walk to restaurants, shopping, pubs, and taxis. Our room was a suite and it was very spacious with nice marble tiles in the bathroom. It had a sweet balcony overlooking The Pub, so we could see whenever it was open (or closed). There is also a small grocery store nearby that you can get drinks and snacks for the room. Our room had A/C, but since the Christmas Winds were still kicking, we really did not have to use it at all!
