Lovely beach (like Long Bay much better) a bit more crowded and definitely hard to get to.....dirt roads that aren't very well maintained. Not as clean and well manicured as some of the other beaches on the island. However, the sand and water and views are beautiful.

I'm almost at a loss for words about just how beautiful this beach is, but I'll try to put together a review! It was absolutely worth the bumpy unpaved ride to get there, which does require a more rugged vehicle (we drove a Jeep Wrangler) and a sense of adventure. We visited Smuggler's Cove twice while we were on Tortola, and both days the water was as crystal-clear as a swimming pool. The soft white sand slopes right into the water so most of the beach is on a bit of a hill, but there's plenty of space to spread out. Only a handful of people were there. No, there aren't any vendors, but that was part of the charm for us - it was utterly peaceful and serene. The grounds were immaculate. As for the snorkeling, I'm a beginner and I don't have a ton of comparisons, but this was a wonderful place to explore. The coral reef begins right off of the shore, making it easy to see as much or as little as you want. Smuggler's Cove is the kind of place you won't want to tell people about because a part of you wants to keep it all for yourself.

This beach is called out as one of the best beaches in BVI for good reason. It is a beautiful cove between two mountains with a fantastic reef right off the beach. There has never been more than 10 people on the beach when we visited throughout the week. The snorkeling on the reef at the far Western end was the best out of all of our snorkeling ventures. We saw tons of fish: parrotfish, blue tang, angelfish, barracudas (yuck!), lots of schools of all kinds, pretty sea fans, urchins, and a nurse shark. The reef is grey / green so don't expect the reef itself to be rainbow of colors, but there is a ton of sea life and the fish brought plenty of colors. Generally it's as calm as a swimming pool but one day there was a strong swell and surfers were there, so there is the rare possibility of strong currents. Very much worth a visit no matter where in Tortola you are staying!

This was gorgeous. Hard to get to, get good directions from Long Bay. The most calm swimming we had.

I was so thankful we rented a car while staying on Tortola (since most cab drivers will not drive down this road & it's too much to walk) because of this place! Yes, the road is bumpy, but it's so worth it in the end! The cove is beautiful, stunning views! Many locals said there used to be vendors who sold food and drinks - but not anymore :( Still a great view and place to relax!
