Years ago, only locals knew about Smuggler's Cove...but the secret is out! This is by far my favorite quintessential tropical beach ANYWHERE! Early morning and late afternoon, it can be all yours. Great for a walk on the crescent shaped beach and depending on the day, good for snorkelling. The water is clear and usually calm, although there can be waves..all depends...I can just float in the water for hours! A great spot for sunset, looking out at Jost Van Dyke. There were vendors, but until they are permitted, it is back to no amenities other than sand, palm trees or surf..Kind of how I like it. It response to a previous review, the trash has been cleaned up and it is nature as it should be! Bring water, suntan lotion, sunglasses, snorkel gear and you're good to go~!!

Only a 20 minute walk from Long Bay, Smuggler's Cove it beautiful, though there's a lot of junk around, like trashed lounge chairs and the like. No amenities, except for a porta potty, and a questionable dude selling rum punch. BYOB and it'll be great...

We set out looking for Smuggler's Cove, but almost didn't find it. We drove through Long Bay Beach Resort. After the resort, there is a fork in the road- both ways are marked 'PRIVATE'. Take the right fork- and yes it is a dirt/gravel road. It's just about a mile past that point until the road ends in the parking lot for Smuggler's Cove. Most taxi drivers will try to dissuade you from going- but I suspect its just because they don't want to make the drive. We visited Smuggler's Cove in September- off season. There were a handful of people there, but by mid day they were all gone. The bar was not open either, so it really had a 'washed up on a desert island' sort of feeling.

The water is beautiful and the snorkeling was quite nice. The reef is right off the shore, full of coral, fish, rays etc. Watch out for the coral though- at some points it is very close to the surface.

The beach itself is nice, but, I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it was somewhat neglected. Perhaps because it was off season, there were chairs and random pieces of furniture strewn about. Some trash under the trees too. I would definitely go back though, and highly recommend it.

Just a short distance from Soper's Hole, so we sailed there and anchored just 100 meters from the beach. It was the off-season, so it was deserted. It is JUST A BEACH with no amenities, but that is also it's strength. Good but not great snorkeling. Incredible colors in the water. We greatly enjoyed the setting for a lunch at anchor and water activities.

This beach was very close to where we stayed and we were so excited based on everyone's reviewes here on TripAdvisor. The drive was perilous at best. Must have 4WD to get here or you are screwed! The beach and water were gorgeous and there were only 2 other people on the beach while we were there. But that was the case for all the beaches we went to. The day before we had pretty good rain, so the water was pretty cloudy and our main mission was to snorkel. Wasn't going to happen here today. Water was way too rough. Might be great if the water is calm. But if you are looking for a great snorkel spot, this was not top of our list.

No bathroom facilities and no food/drink. So bring your own!
