“Amazing escape! Private and fun”
Reviewed July 7, 2011

We stayed at Long Bay Beach Resort - which was awesome and then one day decided to walk to Smugglers Cove. It was a gorgeous walk down a jungle road. Just when you think you have gone into a forest you emerge at the beach, which is a gorgeous oasis! Very private, only a few other people there..a few fun booths to get beach goods and a little wooden bar. Definitely try the painkillers.

“Sorry, but not that great.”
Reviewed May 1, 2011

Not worth the cab fare from the cruise ship. If you are close by, not a bad place to stop by, but nowhere near the pristine, wonderful beach described elsewhere. We have been to dozens of beaches in FL and the Caribbean. This is neither the best nor the worst place to hang out, but it is average at best. A little crowded. Two boats pulled in while we were there. Other people from the ship did show up and plop their chairs close by. There was the smell of sewage from the outhouses. Great food and service from the local vendors - but not a place I would recommend or ever return to.

Smuggler's Cover is a welcome piece of heaven. It's got to be one of the most beautiful white sand beaches on the island. It is a bit of a rough ride to get there, but totally worth it! Not crowded at all! The most charming and friendly people selling their wares and drinks. The painkillers were delicious!

“Niyahqua Watersports”
Reviewed August 20, 2010

Whilst visiting Tortola for an extended stay during the low season, you cannot beat Smuggler's Cover for pure escapism and the most stunning beach on the island. Although a bit of a bumpy ride to get there it is totally worth it as the cruise ship passengers don't descend on this beach at all. So this is a little piece of heaven with the basics to see you through an amazing day. I would definitely go to Nigel at Niyahqua Watersports...he will sort you out with everything from kayaks, paddle boats, snorkeling equipment (definitely snorkel to the reef and this is one of the best places to see turtles), body boards, surf boards & inflatables etc...

Nigel is a top man who will also sort you out with beach chairs, parasols and food and drinks too which will make your perfect day complete.

Do not miss out on this beach on this beautiful island with these beautiful people.

“Great snorkeling and fairly quiet beach”
Reviewed March 21, 2010

I was disappointed to find Smuggler's in the reviews, but that would explain why it has been busier the last couple years. Last year the surge was high when we were there, so the snorkeling was not so good, but neither was Brewer's. We didn't mind, because Steven was there to make it a nice day. He's on the left as you face the water: has beach chairs for you to use, makes great drinks and grills a tasty fish sandwich! The road has 1 steep spot and is rocky, but is not that bad. We always rent a RAV4 on Tortola anyway.
