Owner description: Centrally located on Tortola's north side, this is probably the busiest beach since its beauty is often compared to Magen's Bay on St. Thomas.

We had a great 30 minute 8 dollar ride from Roadtown right across the island in a taxi for 16 people, which struggled valiantly up the winding mountainous road, and down the other side.It was great fun leaning over the side from the wooden bench seat to take video and photos! Wonderful scenic views of lush vegetation and seaviews.
The beach itself was really crowded and the beach chairs were scarce althoughthe attendant was willing to patrol for vacant ones whilst we balanced precariously on 2 that he patched up with blue electric tape! No point complaining when everyone is so friendly and helpful. Chickens and their chicks scratched and clucked around us on the beach.
The sea was warm, blue and clear, I stayed in for ages with goggles and swam with many pretty coloured fishes!

Many soft drinks, cocktails and types of food to choose from at reasonable prices, and a colourful little market selling all sorts, food, trinkets, souvenirs, clothes etc.
It was a lovely peaceful time, having walked along a bit and found newer chairs, we werecsettled for the day, and didn't really notice the crowds.

Took this excursion based on recommendations on the Carnival website. I was NOT disappointed. It was approximately a 30 minute scenic drive through the dense vegetation of the mountains, up winding roads that were so steep our open air taxi was struggling to get its passengers up. At one point we were 1500 feet above sea level, had gorgeous views of the ocean on both sides of the island. When we got to Cane Garden Bay, it was so quiet, and peaceful, tucked among the mountains on the opposite side from the ship. There was a nice little general store, with drinks and snacks, expensive to us travelers, but when you're in the Caribbean where everything is imported, of course your 12oz can of coke goes from .75-1.00 stateside to 1.50-2.00 in the islands.

The beach chairs were plentiful, and an umbrella to shade you from the scorching sun is an extra 5.00 but its a nice size, to cover the 2 beach chairs beside it. I did this excursion with my fiance and hes not big on "being surrounded by people", but surprisingly enough he enjoyed it. The water was cool, and at some points COLD depending on the tide, but OMG it was sooooo refreshing. The little bar we were near, had a fantastic selection of beverages, including " soda, water, and juice". AND had a menu for regular food, like burgers, hot wings, and fries. A basket of fries was only 2.00 and you got your monies worth. The beers were anywhere from 4.00 to 6.00 depending on the brand, but it wasn't COMPLETELY unreasonable.

Overall, I recommend a stop in Cane Garden Bay, whether you are staying on the island, or visiting by cruise. It's worth the money to get a little bit of paradise.

took a taxi tour during our trip on the Carnival Sunshine in late May. We were promised a 1 hour stop, but got cut back to 30 minutes when some old farts couldn't keep track of time at the first stop and cut into beach. Made the decision to stay and pay extra to taxi back. Was a nice afternoon and great sun. Maybe not the most exotic snorkeling, but a great relaxing trip. Would definitely go back to this island, seems like alot to explore and enjoy.

We were on our way back from Road Town and stopped at Cane Garden Beach for a drink and a swim. We parked behind Tonys and went to that beach. It was amazing. Tony's had painkillers at happy hour prices and the swimming was wonderful. This is a great area to spend the day. Chairs and umbrellas are free. We were there on a non cruise ship day so it was not crowded at all.

We were able to moor our catamaran close, then use the dinghy to get in. We arrived late, so based on what we saw, it might be difficult to maneuver around once you've stepped on the dock. We hoped to go to Quito's for some live music, but nothing was happening, so we walked along the beach to Myett's. Brian Neale's band (we believe they are there from Toronto for a month) was very entertaining. That resort had a lot going on (housing, activities, restaurant) and was proud of their environmental efforts. The food was pricey, and service slow, but your on "island time" at that point, so don't let it bother you!
