Owner description: Centrally located on Tortola's north side, this is probably the busiest beach since its beauty is often compared to Magen's Bay on St. Thomas.

from p&o azura cruise 4 of us took $8 taxi ride to cgb, walked from one end to the other, middle half is a bit packed with sunbeds,so we spent morning at far end on sand, not much to see with snorkel at this end but pelicans dive into water very close to you.for lunch at beach restaurant i had conch fritters, shrimp rice and red stripe-heaven!.after lunch we went to first part of beach [before jetty]on sand again but we like it,SNORKEL out about 75 feet to oval marker bouy that is tied to a sunken crane and pontoon-this atracts a good number of fish good variety & up to 2feet long, wreck can be seen from beach as a dark rectangle.this saved the snorkel expedition.before we arrived at cgb our driver took us to falmouth bay for a quick look around [worth it] and on return journey we picked some people up at brewers bay which is next door to cgb. this also looks a likely snorkel spot . we would go there next time for a change ! it doesnt really get much better than this -now we know why all the royals go to mustique & caribbean at this time of year,it cant really be beaten, [ps we had 30 degrees !-just right]

The cruise ships come into Roadtown,Tortola and all the beaches are on the other side of the island which means a taxi ride up a steep winding road going to the summit and down the other side. Cane Garden Bay was worth it. Taxi charged $8 per person each way. Several ships were in and the beach was crowded but we still enjoyed lots of swimming and and time to just relax in rented lounges with umbrella. Beach has quiet waters and soft sand. One of the nicest beaches on Tortola. Accomodations along the beach looked rather questionable.

The swimming at Cane Garden Bay is good and the water is usually pretty calm so it would be a good place to take kids. Depending on the day and time that you visit, you may or may not be surrounded by cruiseship passengers who at times overrun this pretty beach. There are lots of great restaurants and bars right on this long, expansive beach. When the waves are too huge for swimming at beautiful Long Bay, this is a reliable spot that stays calmer.

Spent a couple lovely afternoons here. Such a picturesque bay. Many beach bars, we settled on Tony's. Not many cruisers when we were there, which is a plus for us but not the local economy. Calm water, generally sheltered. Found the bottom to be firm sand and gentle sloping. Not much breeze, so a little hotter than some of the other beaches. New ATM added at Myttes.

The first time I visted Cane Garden Bay I was 20 years old and on a two week bare boat charter and I thought the place was magical. Now, I'm a little older and when our cruise stopped in Road Towne we decided to play tourist and take the $8 ride over the big hill into CCB. The ride is a thrill in itself. VERY steep and the views are spectacular. CCB has changed a little with the cruise trade, but it is still as beautifal as ever. Stanley's Welcome Bare in now Tony's Welcome Bar, but I couldn't notice any differance. Great sand, surf and cheap drinks are still in great supply.
