“Panoramic Views + Great Happy Hour”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

We heard BananaKeet was the place to be for a sunset on Tortola, but that it could get very busy, so we arrived early (4:00 PM) as directed, and were surprised to be the only guests on the patio! It was perfect - like our own private view of Tortola and the surrounding islands.

We settled in with a few cocktails (those bartenders have a heavy hand!) and ordered two appetizers: the calamari and the tuna wontons. After gorging ourselves on conch fritters all week (not that there's anything wrong with that), it was such a delight to branch out in the seafood world.

The calamari was good, don't get me wrong, but the tuna wonton was the real star. It was presented in such a way, and was so delicious that it seemed as if it belonged on the menu of a ritzy metropolitan sushi bar. Instead, we were enjoying it poolside overlooking Apple Bay. It was perfect!

“Take your camera as well as your appetite!”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

I'm going to be a bit of a broken record and echo the sentiments of other reviewers here - it's all about the view! The food was great, made more wonderful by an amazing view of the sunset. Yes, the service is very relaxed (a.k.a., island-time-slow) and you will probably sit well past the sun goes down, so plan to make a night of it. My husband and I enjoyed our dinners - we shared the churrasco steak and the shrimp in coconut cream sauce, and both were very good. For dessert we shared the Banana Xango, which sounded so fun, but it was just okay. I should have ordered another signature Bananakeet drink instead, because my first one was delicious! Back to the view though - it's an experience. Go see it.

“Beautiful view, decent food, slow service. Come for the view and when not in a rush.”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Gorgeous deck for relaxing and chilling out. The food is fine to good and the service is very pleasantly mannered and friendly but painfully slow, even on island time. From arrival to check paid on a weeknight off-season took 3 hours. We were there from 630pm to 930pm. Thankfully, we had nowhere to go, had just arrived from a 6 hour flight, and were happy to take in the view. The food is nothing special, not particularly fresh, or delicious, but it is above average. Conch fritters, tuna won tons, a fish dish, and a chicken dish were all fine. Would definitely recommend a visit for the view, some photos, and quality time (lots of it ;) ) with your dining companions.

“food equals view!”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

And that is saying something. This cliff-top perch is a bit away from the madding crowd and has the feel of a discovered secret. The atmosphere is friendly, bustling and appreciative of the spectacular view below. We had fish of the day [there were 5 of us and we tried 3 fish cooked two different ways] and it was fresh and perfectly cooked. We avoided any sauces figuring a fresh fish deserved to be tasted as seasoned. The salad and veg were likewise well prepared.
We settled on some fun afterdinner drinks for desert and drank in the sparkling lights of the bay below.
Then the bill came and we remained smiling.

“sunset dinner”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

Like most other reviews stated the sunset viewed from the Bananakeet is incredible. We ordered a wide range of food( conch, swordfish, Brazilian beef, ahi tuna) and everyone enjoyed their meal. The only thing I think they could expand upon was a children's menu as two of the kids dining with us saw nothing they wanted to eat other than rice and Caesar salad, and neither are picky eaters.
