“Beautiful site, when visibility is good”

Reviewed February 11, 2011

This is a beautiful site for looking at the big picture. It does indeed look like a bunch of huge mushrooms formed by the coral.

It's a good site for new divers and easy to do.

One thing is to make sure it is a nice day. Visibility is critical to enjoying the big picture.

Alice in Wonderland is a popular reef dive on the south west side of Ginger Island (close to another popular dive site - Ginger Steps).

It is a good dive site for inexperienced divers - the depth varies from about 50 to 75 feet, but because the channels in the coral all run north-south, is is an easy dive to stay oriented on.

The site characteristically has good marine life - lots of soft sponges, angel fish, lobster, turtles - although not so much deep water maga-fauna (like sharks and rays). The site is fairly sheltered (although only accessible by boat), which also helps newer divers.
